I know that in Formula 1, brake calipers are often placed in the 6 o'clock (bottom) position for reasons of C of G, but can someone please enlighten me about the placement advantages of front and rear calipers on road or sports cars? Is there some kind of physical or kinetic advantage to having your front brake caliper mounted in the "2 o'clock" position as seen from the left side? What about the rear caliper? Leverage? Rotational mass? Cooling?
Wondered about this for awhile, so any insight is appreciated.
