By (19-18)/19, or less than five percent I guess.

Ok let me see if I am following you.

Original Volume flow = 0.38 m^3/second..

Then you Used Bernoulli to get the extra pressure inside the air-box?

Pinairbox = Patm + Density*(Vcar)^2 - Density*(inlet velocity)^2

Because the air will not come to rest in the air box.

Then now you said that For no drag the Pressure difference to Patm is zero so the velocities are the same when the engine inlets is a certain Area.

So increase Vcar to get increase Pairbox > find new mass flow using Gas Law > compare with the original to find new Power.

Then now at the same time.. there is Drag.. For this part what did you use the static pressure in the Airbox x Area? Patm + Density*(Vcar)^2 x AirBox opening area..

I realize that we are working without pressure losses.. so Ok what If the Engine inlet area is Not the same as the Airbox opening? Just work it anyways?

Motor suck in air spit out power?

Car go fast!

That is how smart you engineers make me feel from time to time.

It's fun watching someone automatically break a thought down into pure math, which is so totally not how I think.

I'm in a really good mood as today was an awesome day.

Fastest car of all time as per my opinion would be McLaren MP4-20.. I remember at the end of the season, it was the fastest.

And as it was the last V10..

I cant decide between the F2004 & the MP4-20. They were both bloody quick. Its too close in terms of outright straight line speed. Has someone got the exact top speeds of them?

I would enjoy watching one of these racecar factories make what would be a grand prix car for the sole purpose of outright speed around a circuit taking away much of what has become needed as part of what the business of racing has become just for the exercise of it.

Undertaking this task may even help them understand the wind tunnel even better while not really using if for their F1 machines, time which is now controlled.

May help a team be prolific in their search of updates for their F1 machines.

What do you mean outright speed?
Medium speed? Top speed?

Medium speed? Top speed?
To be able to run a grand prix distance at the various grand prix circuits in the least amount of time possible.

Does nt `outright speed' mean `top speed in a straight line' ?

Well, it's almost the same right now.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Pomeroy Index yet.

Google it, do some stats and you will get your anoswer

That doesn't give the fastest F1 car of all time - i.e. the fastest one around a track. That merely gives the fastest car with respect to it's contemporaries. The Ferrari F2004 is still the fastest F1 car ever produced.

Ferrari have mastered the dark art of legal aero elasticity, which is why they do better in the high speed stuff, where as Mclaren seem to post the faster sector times in the medium and slow speed stuff,.

I'd like to know a percentage based on each corner of three different tracks. One slow, one medium, one fast. Since this data is near impossible to get I assume, we'll only be able to speculate.

Unless we have data that shows which car is faster through the majority of corners/types we can just continue speculation.

Depends on your loose definition of "fast".

F2004 is by a large margine the quickest F1 car. One of things we will never see which of course we would like to is over a single lap see the F2004, verses BAR 006, verses the MP4-19B! On raw pace I reckon each car would be difficult to seperate. But on race pace the F2004 shear numbers just totally destroys anything else. Will we ever seen the lap records broken?
