This car is in my opinion the most beautiful of the field by large (definitely not biased  ), now it needs to find some performance as well. It's very pleasing to the eye. Not only the colour but also shapes, very flowing.
The shiny paintwork really helps. Pops in the field full of dull mattes and really accentuates and lights up the curves and shapes. The sidepod is quite close to the RB18/19 but looks miles better because of the livery.

They made some changes and he went faster so hopefully it’s better.

Hearing Ted talking about how Newey understood the most important part of these regulations was the suspension (he designed Red Bulls dominant RB19,20 suspension) ie having a stable platform not outright downforce like Mercedes mistakenly followed shows me Aston Martin currently relying on Mercedes for Rear suspension is holding them back and the car a bit. Of course is better than nothing as they currently can’t design that part but looking forward to seeing what they can do with the new facilities and people they have brought in for 26.

No one did proper long runs apart from Alonso and Super stiff car is the only way to fix race pace at high fuel loads. This is somewhat low deg track, but rear limited. By running stiff they can see if the car can handle the tyres at high fuel loads. If race pace is good here, this might be something they have to live with. Imola upgrades talked about different rear suspension mountings (lower leg, as can't change gear box design) so let's see.
Halo not as bad as we thought

Alonso did 3 or 4 "long run" laps after he did 18 Quali and cool off laps. So you need to put that in perspective. The tires already had 18 laps on them when he started the long runs. Also his second stint was about 12 laps so imagine how much fuel he had on for those quali runs. He didn't pit before the long runs.

I think it’s pretty telling Merc being outperformed in Miami Sprint qualifying by both McLaren and Aston. But the caveat is Aston isn’t as far ahead as McLaren since they are stuck with half of Mercedes’ rear end for the foreseeable future. Pretty impressive for Aston for getting more out of it than them even though Aston is compromised on race day and other areas with it.

Meh not really maybe he made a mistake on his final lap but everyone did but I honestly prefer this to him starting 3rd and then slipping back to 8th/9th/10th. Hopefully both Astons can keep the Mercs behind tomorrow.

i mean he was 3 tenths slower than his Q2 time. only thing i can say as a kind of excuse is that was his first run on the softs all weekend.

Yeah, and despite that he still set identical time to Stroll. But everyone clearly got caught out by the softs if you look at the McLarens. But yes agreed a bit disappointing Alonso couldn’t put it all together but considering the circumstances of losing a lot of time in FP1 with changing the suspension and not trying reds it’s not a bad effort. He’ll redeem himself for real qualifying I expect.
