The photo sure gives a good idea on the damage caused.
I would suggest that it exaggerates the damage as this is where the ‘mouse-hole’ is located anyway. I’m not denying the damage, but there is an intentional hole there to start with.

I dont understand this idea of talking of a performance upgrade in terms of 'how many tenths of laptime'. What is the reference against which this time is spoken of ? 75s lap ? 90s lap ? 100s lap ? 120s lap ?
How many slow corners, how many straights, how many medium/fast corners ? without some 'golden reference' for all this, how is it possible to say '3 tenths faster' ? On which track ?

They put it at .2 worth not at .5 or 1s

It’s a good question, but all the teams make these claims. I always assume there is a common reference amongst them otherwise the information is useless to share.

Aerodynamics specialist leaves Red Bull Racing for top job at Alpine

Alpine has struck another blow for its technical team. Michael Broadhurst makes the move to the French racing stable and will work alongside David Sanchez. Broadhurst comes over from Red Bull Racing.

Broadhurst was with Red Bull Racing as Principal Aerodynamicist. Broadhurst has worked for the Austrian racing stable since 2021 and thus collaborated on the three cars that Max Verstappen became world champion with.

Broadhurst is no stranger to F1. In fact, before Red Bull Racing, he also worked for McLaren, Lotus and BMW Sauber. Broadhurst began his F1 career at BMW Sauber in 2007 as a CFD Engineer. Under that title, he moved to Lotus in 2009, where he worked for seven years. He climbed from CFD Engineer to CFD Teamleader and Principal Aerodynamicist.

Red Bull Racing informs GPblog that Broadhurst quit the F1 team five months ago. Like Newey, Broadhurst is sitting out his 'gardening leave' at Red Bull Advanced Technology's. Broadhurst is still working there until June this year.
In July, Broadhurst will start a new job at Alpine.

Red Bull are 'expecting a lot' from their Imola upgrade

Helmut Marko: "I'm not worried (about McLaren being a threat in the championship), Norris is more than 50 points behind."

"Besides, we are bringing an upgrade to Imola, which I expect a lot from."

Yeah, there's a lot of hype around Ferrari upgrade, while Red Bull is keeping a low profile.
However, I'm pretty sure it will be substantial based on the comments from early season. It always seemed to me that Imola was going to be the big deal, while Japan was just an intermediate bridge for that.

Plus, without a SC Max was still on for a win. Man is a machine. But the rest is now so close that if a unlucky SC comes the win is gone. On a weekend where they haven’t nailed it/car is maybe not the most suitable. Max took two poles and won the sprint.

I read somewhere that Newey has been muscled out of the design decisions for 2024 and he didn't take that with a warm smile.

The shark mouthed sidepod is a totally new idea and it garish curves are definitley not something Newey would approve of much less scribble on his drawing board. He shot down the idea despite the positive CFD numbers, and even as CTO he was outvoted in it's approval.

So yeah, clearly the team there is strong and can make winning cars without Newey, and Newey realises that as well. No point in conitnuing in his old age. Time let go. He use the term pass the baton. Not sure it was passed. It was grabbed from his tightly clenched grip.
Tend to be very skeptical over rumors like this.

Think there is often an element of truth to it but often a lot of mistruths too, how much they come out of the wekework after the departure.
Newey was amicably speaking about the 2025 car they had in the pipeline would be a nice evolution. Newey is known to be openminded and copy/adapt/implement any idea that would improve the car.

Think more that Newey posed the RBR design team a few exam design requirement they needed to pass before passing on the baton. Living the live in France in a Camper and sailing around (the world) on his new boat.

Other then don´t count out that de Engine department (included Ex-Honda engineers and HPP engineers), together with there knowledge of assisting Honda with an Engine Consultant (wonder who he would be consulting now...) gives them the freedom to design an engine without legacy-problems. Everything can be setup new with the new engine design in mind. At least the single cylinder sounded to be running reliable.

I'm under the same impression, Marko's words kinda confirm what Newey said at the beginning of the season that by race seven the car would have looked quite different and that they would have brought a big package; let's see and hope it'll be enough to regain some pace advantage on the upgraded Ferrari.

From a long interview on OE24 with Helmut Marko. There is still no peace in the team.
.
oe24: So on Ferrari - Newey apparently wants to build a winning car for Hamilton. Are you afraid that this could happen?

MARKO: The myth goes with Newey, but I don't think we will have a technical collapse because of it.
Now we have to concentrate on the World Cup and get the team calm again.
