Demise of new star drivers

Post

I feel something should be done on the testing ban that F1 (and MotoGP etc.) has. Though cost saving is important, it shouldn't be done on the cost of losing future champions.

Is it possible for new driver's to adapt to an F1 car at the same level, as championship winning driving requires?

Hamilton and Alonso spent entire seasons testing, doing thousands of laps on different circuits. Hakkinen spent testing most of the '93 season as did Hill for '91 and '92. So did Mansell early in his career. From the world champions of the past 20 years, Raikkonen, Senna, Schumacher, Villeneuve and Prost weren't as full time test drivers at one point but nevertheless did thousands of laps before and in between races for their entire careers.

Talent + practice makes a genius, what if you take out the practice?

Blame FOTA for the short sided testing ban.

And Hamilton really didnt get that much testing before jumping into the McMerc, especially compared to Alonso jumping into the Renault.

Short sighted

It would make more sence to compare the amount of time alonso had before jumping in the minardi, as that's where he started

Even the talented ones need practice Belatti... that goes for the drivers AND the engineers sorting out the cars...
