It’s been an exciting Lois Vuitton Cup with all unexpected results that the Americas Cup is famous for. What I have found amazing about the racing is how captivating I have found the low wind races. Who would have thought that when hydroplaning monohulls and not hydroplaning they could be so exciting. Perhaps it has something to do with how evenly matched most of the yachts are in good wind conditions. In these situations the race result appears often decided by the outcome of the start (baring mechanical failure), much like an F1 race in Monaco is now decided by who leads out of t1.

But low or changeable wind conditions are nerve wracking and thrilling to watch. Everything can go wrong in a moment. Massive leads can be lost in a single tack or drop in wind. You don’t know the outcome until the yacht reaches the finish line. Much like a wet race in F1. Low wind conditions slow everything down and makes the focus on skill and technique. It’s exciting sport to watch.

Looking forward to the next races.

Race isn’t over but i’ve seen enough. LRPP again losing the rudder and losing a massive amount of time in a critical moment. They should have seen INEOs having difficulty tacking on the left side of the course with lighter air, or at least seen the massive gain they pulled on the right and still decided to go left.

Bad racing from LRPP, this was a bit embarrassing, they are winning nothing like that.

Incredible race 4. George Russell was at Barcelona today to keep it closer to in topic.

Umps clearly judged Ineos to be looking for contact and allowed LRPP through. The other penalties sought by the brits were not that close, but clearly a good chunk of luck was used by LRPP to balance out the broken main race 3.

2-2 and on we go.

One comment on the race course, it’s horrible. Ultra light or ultra high winds, hours waiting to start. I don’t think Barcelona was such a good idea in october.

Big win for Ineos today!
They managed to get their sht together and closed down Italy’s hopes with three wins on the trot.

Anyone who hasn’t should watch race 4 of the Louis Vuitton Cup, incredibly tight and has to be one of the top moments in sport. Instant classic if a race, especially as it came off the back of a mechanical DNF in the first race of the day.

dynamic balance

Race 4 is easily my favorite race. Disappointed that LRPP lost in the end, but you can't give up 2 races due to failures in the finals and have such simple start strategies every time. The better crew and boat deservedly won. First time in 60 years that a british crew gets this far.

James Spithill also will retire from the cup going forward, LRPP will need to find a new crew and that's probably good, great manouvering from them but really bad starts, which is ironic given that James became famous for his aggressive starts. Great career and great person frankly, sad it ended early this time.

Looking forward to see the America's Cup.

For the most part INEOS came out on top due to consistent performance and fewer mistakes. It wasn't easy and a huge gain from their initial races prior to the finals. And they were smart on covering early in many of the races, making it almost impossible for LRPP to mount and comeback. Well done to the INEOS team.

There was some really good tight racing, some "almost" comeback races, and a great display of what these current boats can do.
