I could never forget that pass, it is ingrained in my soul, but be had to pull such a bonzai pass because of the very nature of the track and how the cars had outgrown it by that time.

BTW, very shortly after "THE PASS"(and citing it as an example) the FIA made a new ruling that you must have all 4 whels on track to complete a pass... Which I think Zanardi did(until he went off)... but I'm biased, big pineapple fan.

Zanardi FTW!

Like LMP1? It's the closest car to F1 in terms of cornering Gs, AFAIK.

Here's a bunch of 600-700hp low powered cars going through corkscrew, like they do every year.
Yeah, but races are boring as hell. It's a very tight circuit. I don't even like Monaco for similar reasons.
Laguna, to my knowledge, does not hold a license for F1 races. MotoGP is all it does. You also have Mazda races, and a few other things. Still, a great track for cycles. Just would hate seeing F1 cars there. Might as well put them in a queue and start counting sheep or watch chess on TV.

I do agree its to small of a track for f1 I just want to see the pack dive down the corkscrew a few times. I think road America would be the best place to hold it in the US its a great track.

Agree Laguna Seca is a fantastic track with the corkscrew, as is spa and brands GP, actually the spectacular tracks seem to have big rises and falls, by comparison I can't get at all excited about silverstone as it is so FLAT, the best bit is bridge. Lets get some more tracks with a range of heights and cambers. If the car is moving more in 3D rather than 2D then there is more variety.

I love Laguna but F1 cars wouldn't work on it - the straights are short and the corners don't have big braking zones to allow overtaking. Watching a single F1 car around there is another matter; very exciting:

What next for Donnington?

The leaseholder is bust and has handed the track back to the Wheatcroft family. There is a small hitch in that the track has been dug up so can't be used for racing ... oops.

I wonder if there was enough cash paid to the Wheatcrofts when they sold the lease for them to reinstate it? Or perhaps they had some warranty/bond that could be used to reinstate the track? Otherwise its going to be very quiet in that neck of the woods for a very long time :(

Turn it into a rallycross track.

I would say it's ready to go :)
