i like this version
This is just pointless. This is the final year of the ground effect cars and they want to implement it in almost the 2nd half of the season? I wonder if it's a good idea for teams to start developing a Plan B front wing in case the TD comes into action, because a new design would be ready for use in April/May.
Probably because it takes time to develop and create new wing that can pass new TD
The problem has been brought to their attention since early in the 2024 season. By midseason they said, "Welp, we just figure we're not gonna do anything", because it benefited the championship to keep Mclaren strong at the time. Then later in the season they declared they wouldn't be doing anything about it for the 2025 season, probably in the misguided hope that they could recreate the 'close' 2024 season. This made it sound like the end of it, and that teams were safe to develop their own flexi wings and catch up properly or even optimize the car design in general around it.
Now they're basically flipping the script and saying, "Oh wait, actually no, we dont want this", which is going to mess with everybody.
They had basically a whole season to address the problem and give teams ample forewarning about increased limits. They could have tackled it midseason and barring that they definitely could have tackled it by end of season so teams knew what the restrictions would be for 2025.
This situation is just ridiculous.
