Liam didn't look great today tbh. The race stints are hard to read because they didn't do them consecutively and probably refueled. With the quali sim he couldn't really nail the first or second sector. Maybe fuel related, but also looked like they were doing a lot of set-up work between runs.
I think his first stint seemed okay. Maybe McLaren still has a larger advantage as fuel wears off?
Idk, I have to see Max. What he showed yesterday was promising and Liam has certainly not come close to that so he can't be used as a benchmark for the car.
Avg race pace gap between Perez vs Verstappen in 2022 - 0.300 (Great deg)
Avg race pace gap between Perez vs Verstappen in 2024 - 0.560 (Bad deg)
Compare Perez to Lawson. Perez was known as a "tyre whisperer" and the closest he got to Max was 0.3 in a great car. It wouldn't surprise me if Max is 0.5 a lap faster than Lawson at a minimum.
When you look at that, and take off 0.5, how does Lawson's stint times compare to Norris and Leclerc?
