I dont know, it all looks entirely driver error to me.venkyhere wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025, 19:06I expected a better excuse than 'ghost videos dont show the correct thing, onboards do'. We get a like for like comparison, and it's plain as daylight that the ferrari is rotating better than the redbull (except T14, which was one driver being 'correct' and the other risking it all with a maverick move).ringo wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025, 18:47The thing with ghost vidoes is which subject is the static reference. Objects moving around will always seem buzzy and darting.
Onboards of both are a better reference.
Saying that to say, the Ferrari front end isn't as strong as it appears from a ghost video.
I understand the need to downplay whichever car also, but let's see what happens!
Look at the much talked about T1-2-3 : HAM didn't hug the inside of the curve when T1 starts, went wide, did a 'V' (because his car can rotate well) into T2 and emerged slightly ahead in T3 ; while the redbull understeered and then snap oversteered, and the driver had to 'catch' the car. Same can be observed (how the Ferrari rotates better) for the T11-12-13 increasing radius corner. HAM does the 'V' while VER has to settle for the 'U', because the Redbull understeers.
In T8, Max simply turns-in too early and tries to carry too much speed, which leads to the car washing out(understeer). Lewis stays a bit wider and takes a slower initial approach, which leads to him being able to stay on the ideal line better, getting on the power earlier and lining himself up better for T9.
It's pretty much the same exact story in T11-13. Max carries too much speed through T12, which leads to the car washing out and it punishes him for the exit/T13. Lewis is slower through T12 and that is why he avoids the same understeer.
None of this looks to be because of the car. Max was just trying to take too big of a bite during the entry period. Certainly not a bad lap, but little details like this are exactly the sort of things that make the difference.
