Newey will take years to have a positive effect, if he even will have one.

This team already built the 2nd best car at the start of 2023 and won a race in 2020 so it is not a corpse like the Jaguar f1 team that had to be fully reconstituted. For comparison, Mclaren is the same team as 3-4 years ago, same "worker bees". They only changed of some key leadership positions and upgraded facilities. AMR now has the best facilities in F1 or on par with the best. They have "worker bees" too, same level as any other team. "Worker bees" are a commodity. It was only leadership that they were missing.

Now they have Newey and Cowell to direct the "worker bees" to the right tunnels for 2026. It will not take "years". Mclaren with the benefit of extra wind tunnel time took only a single year to go from backmarker to competing for wins. It wouldn't have even taken that long if they weren't hamstrung by having to iterate from the dog of a car they had in 2022 because of the budget cap. Without the cap, they could bring a clean sheet design in the middle of the year all the way down to the suspension and monocoque. AMR find themselves following the same trajectory but with clean sheet coming for 2026. The "worker bees" were always there. Now the facilities and the correct leadership is in place. They have a significant advantage of wind tunnel and CFD time with Adrian Newey leading them. They will abandon 2025 earlier than the current leading teams. Do the math...It would be more surprising if they don't win races in 2026. It's a clean sheet Adrian Newey car. You'll lose more money by betting on others.

Unless this year gets a miraculous turn around that makes Max a serious competitor for the WDC, I highly doubt he'll be with RBR next year tbh.
And if that happens, RBR will be in shambles. Let's hope Yuki can create some smiles, should have been the guy for this year anyways ..

Max and Yuki should go to Aston Martin if things get really out of hand, and I said Aston Martin for Max and not Mercedes, it's because: 1, You have Newey and 2, Honda is their as well.

Aston is fool's gold until they show any sign of progress. He'll stay or join Merc.

There's really no downside to it since Lawson was dong so poor. Either Tsunoda does equally bad or perhaps better.

I think for Yuki getting into the points on a regular basis and maybe getting near the podium positions would be good enough for Redbull in the short term. In all honesty they should have promoted Yuki last year for the 2025 seat and kept Lawson at Racing Bulls to continue developing. We'll have to wait and see if Max decides to move to Mercedes in '26 or '27. If Max wants a challenge, taking Mercedes back to the top will be no mean feat.

Considering George and Kimi are having a good start to 2025 and Toto's love for Kimi, Max to Mercedes in 26/27 possibly won't be an option. Will have to see though, way to early to know, lots of racing to happen before then. Max is clearly a better driver than George but Mercedes, for all the things I don't like about them, have always be good about maintaining a stable organization.

Pieces are coming together at Aston Martin that make it seem like the ideal landing spot but until Aston shows more in-season development, I wouldn't count on it as a for sure thing. Last year's AMR24 reminds me a lot of the RB21 this year... a car a year removed from Newey's design influence and philosophy. How AMR progresses through this season will give some indication if they are headed in the right direction. I don't believe Newey will spend much focus on the AMR25 but wouldn't be surprised if he had some level of contribution (albeit minor) just to understand how well Aston Martin's new simulator and wind tunnel are correlating for the 2026 car.

Max will only join if Mercedes got a winning car and Russell f* off (which Toto will gladly do). If he leaves it will be AM nothing else. Also people angry Lawson got ditched, who are you? Id be surprised if the car comes back in one piece. It is undrivable. Yuki has been settled with one team and car since 2021. I don't believe Max has even done 3 purple sectors in the last 2 races. There has always been a green or a yellow in the mix because of the car snapping

Contrary to the world, I'd suggest an entirely different approach to the whole Red Bull organization. With a characteristics this peaky & narrow as the RB21, I would put Verstappen in the VCARB car to see the true+ potential of that car, while putting TSU/LAW/HAD/COL whatever in the RB21. Then the potential of the RB21 would be plastically visible through the (more lukewarm) drivers with their respective driving styles. The current, usual RB-way of thinking is just a performance oriented picture based on competition/ego/fear but doesn't give a true holistic image of the situation and unnecessarily crushes careers.

Yuki will bust the myth of RB21 being undrivable. Max only knows the redbull cars and what he considers poor is probably excellent at Williams or Haas. Lawson is a rookie. Perez was able to drive the RB20 which was worse whenever he got the setup right and the car felt good to him. Perez was going very well in Baku last year before Sainz crashed into him. So let's be open minded about having for a long time, a redbull academy driver with more than 2 years experience in the Top redbull team. Max was the last such person. Perez was not cut from the same cloth.

How are the rules for the free practice sessions, since they sometimes put the reserve driver in the car, could Max drive the VCARB in an FP session to see how it works for him? Or do they have to make him an official part of that team for it to be possible, or use it the whole weekend? If Lawson in the VCARB performs better than Yuki in the Red Bull next weekend, I would'nt be surprised if Max wanted to try it, if it is possible. If not, switch for one race weekend to see.
