2008 Engine Usage Data

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Found the 2007 technical reports, and will get started on them ASAP.

All other Technical reports can be found on the FIA Archive, http://www.fia.com/en-GB/archive/Pages/en.aspx , By selecting the year and then the Catogory and finally the event you want to look at.

I am so glad i found this resource.

Will probably do the 2006 data as well as i want to see what the Cosworth CA2006 data is like for the new CA2010 engine for next year could be.

Thanks for this info, it's fascinating! I'm also amazed. Ferrari managed to race 62 engines in a season between itself and its customers!

Ive just started the 2007 data, and the same thing looks like its gonna happen here as it did in 2008. BMW will have the strongest engine or at least second strongest. Whitch makes me wonder what they changed for 2009.

Now i have the model base up and running, a couple of races a day keeps the doctor away. Should be done in roughly a weeks time. Then its the 2006 data.

Futher Update: Halfway thrug the 2007 season now. Also went back and worked out the % chance of a relyability problem on my 2008 charts. Basically came up with this:

BMW P86/7 had a 0.71% chance of a relyability problem developing in 2007, with 0 failures. (To FRA)

BMW P86/8 had a 1.37% chance of developing a relyability problem in 2008, with 1 failure. (Season)

However, in 2009, the BMW P89/9 has had roughly 6 failures for the season as a whole between both drivers. How can the second most relyable engine in 2007 and the most relyable in 2008 become the most un-relyable in 2009???

I can think of one thing that has changed... That leads me to the question had KERS ruined probably the best engine outside the Mercedes FO108W???
