It doesn't work like that.
As I understand the integration and harmonization of the units are at least just as important as the unit itself.
Even if Honda ERS is superior, you can't just put it to the RBPT ICE and expect it to excel. The trick is how they work together. It is not an usb plug&play device.
I don't see this happening for multiple reasons.

They got the livery right. Looks like the old white cigar shaped Honda F-1 cars. A lovely homage.
The grey/black Honda powered Mclarens driven by Button and Alonso gave similar vibes of clean Japanese design.

Black Halo.. This livery is so well thought out, it would have been a travesty if Yuki was not the one driving the car.
Makes you wonder if Liam's car was rigged up to be problematic to get him outa the car for Yuki.

There is no source, it's just people framing their expectations as facts/news. Personally I'm not expecting RBPT to deliver the best engine on the grid, but not to be miles off either. These engines without the MGU-H should be a lot less complicated when it's basically just a turbo ICE with a big KERS. Not exactly cutting edge technology.
