3rd force by a large margin then

But used tyres I guess
It was a good lap for used tires. 4 tenths quicker on 2nd run. I think it was just a bad qualy strategy. Fueled for 5 laps to do the 1st run at the peak of the tire.
It doesn't turn.

With fresh tyres Verstappen would have been on pole I think.

I think at least 1 MCL was beatable today with a single push lap, but that last corner alone was totally destroying lap times.

I think it's not as bad as I expected. But yeah we can't keep the tires for S3.
I don't think that was the problem. S3 is not bad on the 2nd run. Within 1 tenth of Antonelli and same as Piastri with used tire. Max set purple S1 on the used tire that was unbeaten.
It doesn't turn.

What does he even mean with this

Why did they go for a good tyre life setup on a track where you can't even overtake

2 tenths in second sector -- potentially improvable with fresh tires -- maybe even S1 a bit more.

Yeah maybe it's not the tires and there's maybe a bit of hope for tomorrow.

Let's see Quali tomorrow maybe they can fight for pole.
Call a spade, a spade.

That's what I expect too but I enjoy that they will continue to say these things

Max is flying on T1, absolutely mighty through there and no other driver got close (except Kimi on his final lap, but still not as good). Practically he makes that entire S1 gap to the others in T1.

On his second run T11 and T17 were bad, but it's hard to know if it's just down to car or poor tire condition. Straight line speed, although better than in practice, was still down relative to others, so it is indeed going to be a weakness for this weekend and not just a practice sandbagging thing. T5-T6-T7-T8 was equally good, but it's all undone by the end of the straight.

Kinda meh result.. Hard to see Max is able to overtake anyone with this boat on the straights. Antonelli will get eaten by both mclarens and max will be stuck. They're giving away too much on straights for a measly 1 tenth gain in S1. It will be difficult to compete in the long run with a constant straight line deficit.

Could be referring to downforce level. The others are quicker on the straights. Maybe they will pay in the long runs.

Max will have a tow. The extra downforce is not just for 1 tenth gain in S1. It's also for protecting the tires.

Before going into more detailed analysis, there is a slightly strange macro theme: #Verstappen's #RedBull had a very lean power curve throughout qualifying. He loses about 0.2 on the return straight alone. Reliability concerns in the heat? Even just for the sprint? I don't know, strange, let's see if we understand more as we go along #MiamiGP
