I watched him speak in an interview during last GP and thought the same. Can't quite place his accent
He's spent much of his childhood in Italy as I understand it.
Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with the penalty. I was annoyed with the team fines for this. I think an unsafe release should be a minimum 5 second time penalty. Anything that can benefit the drivers race time or position should be a driver penalty.
I can only remember Leclerc in Germany 2019 getting away with a fine for an unsafe release in a race, otherwise it has always be a time penalty if I recall correctly.TimW wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 19:36Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with the penalty. It just stands out compared to the leniency it was handled with until now.
The penalty was right/correct. I am just fearing it will cost Max another 2 penalty points on his licence. He couldn’t do anything about it, the team made a mistake and it cost Max and Antonelli both the race.TimW wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 19:36Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with the penalty. Wouldn't worry about license points, never seen those for an unsafe release. Those are for driving infringements.Sieper wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 19:50The penalty was right/correct. I am on a fence in regards to 10 sec penalty for Max for that incident, but i think the decision was made because it severely impacted Antonelli's race as he couldn't pit. It was purely the teams fault and hence Max shouldn't receive penalty points for it.Sieper wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 19:50The penalty was right/correct. A "proper investigation" of that takes about two seconds if you have the right angle, which the stewards have. Likely the only reason it was noted was because someone else complained and asked them to check it.cliffgamerz wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 20:03I am on a fence in regards to 10 sec penalty for Max for that incident, but i think the decision was made because it severely impacted Antonelli's race as he couldn't pit. But i am shocked at how quickly his out of position on pit box was dismissed immediately without any proper investigation. It looked similar to Norris mistake.
On board Max's car I agree I don't know if they showed anything side on did they. I am guessing they were basing the call off the sensors in the grind/car.cliffgamerz wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 20:03I am on a fence in regards to 10 sec penalty for Max for that incident, but i think the decision was made because it severely impacted Antonelli's race as he couldn't pit. Quali or race, it gives the driver a benefit, it should be a driver penalty. So time penalty or grid drop.
Yes but if a car goes off the track, it must re enter the track safely. That's where Lawson would carry more weight for the incident. That little tussle looked personal between the two.Cs98 wrote: ↑03 May 2025, 20:14The Lawson-Alonso incident will be interesting to see what the stewards say. Here we have Lawson as the overtaking car coming into the corner completely side by side, Alonso leaves no space on the outside and they collide soon after. If I understand correctly the driving guidelines still mandate that an overtaking car is entitled to space on the outside if they are side by side or ahead from the apex.
