It’s been quite clear, since last year, that Lando does not have the team support. Specially Stella.

This car being so against his style is the cherry on top, but he has to adapt. He knows he can’t use that excuse.

And I agree that Lando has not deserved the 'top driver' status that some people seem to have bizarrely given him. It's like people forget that Sainz was more competitive than him when they were teammates. He's good, perhaps bordering on great, but hasn't really done anything to deserve to be talked about among the absolute best.
At least Norris has always been extremely good and fast in wet, unlike Leclerc and especially his teammate Piastri. That alone tells us a lot. I've never seen a truly great driver that wouldn't be truly great in wet. Ever. Lando has been truly pathetic this year. That is true but equally sad. As soon as he got a World Championship in his sights he stopped driving like a Champion. That is of course 100% in his head, rather than hands and legs. All those talks that Oscar suddenly gained 3 tenths over the winter just training in the gym and driving sim are pure fanatical nonsense. Progress doesn't happen over the winter, it happens over the season. It's clear Norris doesn't drive anymore like he used to, which of course makes Oscar look a whole lot better.

Stella: "I think with Oscar there's a few characteristics that, some of them he possesses naturally, some of them he kept developing through his career and even recently."
"I think the main step that Oscar has made even compared to last season is just the sheer speed. He's a faster driver. This doesn't mean, like I said before, that he wouldn't have situations like qualifying in Miami in which he goes off the rhythm."

what if Oscar has just a higher potential than Lando and he's come to a point to make it count ?

Oscar is brilliant, a total iceman mentality behind the wheel and if he wins the wdc then he fully deserves it and il be delighted.
However imo lando is the faster driver, with faster race pace at most circuits IF he can execute qualifying which is the trouble. It's mentality, doing it as good as u can when it matters, this is landos big trouble he gets the yips when under the cosh.
His raw pace and race pace is faster than Oscars but Oscar is much more balanced between the ears!

He did back off, however drivers have a delta in their steering wheel. Lando would have known he wasn't going to improve so it didn't matter anyway. Last two corners were weak, although the advantage was lost after the chicane already.
I'm trying to understand why his engineer confronted him like that, the only plausible explanation I can think of is that he backed out right before the line. He wouldn't say that just because of a bad lap.
It's curious, but also the change in tone towards Lando. Stella seems more willing to not defend his mistakes quite as much, this year.
Because stella knows the car has no weakness and lando is not putting tge car where it needs.. oscar shows the car is good

The mcl39 is superior to the mcl38 and oscar is faster in a supreme car . Is lando is slower than oscar it means the mcl38 suited lando more and he is being exposed in a superior car

The race starts in 23 minutes. Good luck to both drivers and I hope Oscar closes the door to Max as he will definately try to divebomb.

Guys just stop bashing Lando. Hes our driver and as fans we should support him. This thread has become just a disgrace tbh.

Hoping for a good result from BOTH our drivers

Somehow, in the genral F1 community, Lando is measured with a different yard stick compared to other drivers. Ex. Leclerc makes mistakes, cracks under pressure sometimes, yet he is still a "wasting his godly talents at Ferrari".

Piastri should have closed the turn. But the race is still long.

What was Piastri doing going into turn 1? It was like he wasn't in a race.
