Max in the meantime did not race with 30% less speed as he increased his distance during the VSC instead of the distance staying equal.
He would have been absolutely fine.

I noticed that he increased the distance during the VSC which shouldnt be possible since everyone is on the same speed. Is that legal?

McLaren should have just mirrored Max, it wasn't clever to pit early.

Lando had got the gap to 9 seconds, but was going back to 10 quickly. He needed to stop or would be undercut if tyres going off.

It was just unfortunate that Max got a cheap stop.
Luck will not be there every weekend to support your strategies. As much I will say this is unfortunate but Lando should learn to improve his qualification position.

He pit in VSC while everyone else did their stops on normal racing conditions. That's where the extra 10 seconds come from.

This race was lost at the start anyway. The only way McLaren were going to win it back was if RedBull fell off the cliff like in Miami, but that didn't happen so it was hopeless anyway.

It happens every single time. No conspiracy.

Emag I am pretty sure he increased the distance during VSC before he went to pit.

Obviously, but Lando had been fine in the race.

I'm surprised Piastri did not defend harder in T1, he had the inside and he was alongside, he could have drifted wide. Other than that, quite a bad race by Piastri, he obviously overreacted and underestimated the mediums. Norris who fought Russell could make them last until lap 25 (he was lapping as fast as Piastri on new hards at that time). One positive by Piastri is that he is able to overtake, but overall he lost a lot of time and tire.

Very unlucky with the VSC but also the team is not doing itself favors with strategy. Norris was lapping fine and he would have gained nothing by his pitstop.

Btw if Norris lost his pole like Piastri did the whole internet would be on fire. This was really really bad by Piastri. He is not as clinical as we thought after last couple of races.

Yeah, pitting Piastri might have worked if they'd left it a few more laps to increase the delta and make traffic less of a concern, but as early as they did wasn't great.

Next week we expect upgrades naturally so we should be able to escape from Max.
