Because he isn't racing against Max Verstappen. Can people stop this alternate reality nonsense.
The question will be, if Max has a closer car that can challenge in the race, he is a different proposition.Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 17:10You mean the same AUS where Oscar forced Max into a mistake? It's really okay. Nobody is perfect. Oscar will lose some battles and he will other battles just as Max will. He is still 5-2 in front of Max. I expected today the whole hyperbole narrative to start about Max overdriving his car but people have to be blind not to understand that Oscar is making the difference and not just his Mclaren. Mclaren was never dominant and it's time to start accepting that perhaps it's drivers are better than what people think.Seerix wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 17:04Go rewatch AUS. You might want to refersh your pink glasses memory.Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 16:55Everything is okay. Both drivers did their best but Red Bull was the faster car today with the weather being cool enough to help their tyre preservation and got lucky with that VSC. Oscar made one mistake all year and lost one battle from Max. Big deal. He still won in all the other battles against him. People are blind if they think Oscar is not making the difference in the car.
Personally I'm pretty sure that Max would not have been able to drive that Mclaren as it's a completely different car and he hasn't driven anything else apart from that Red Bull family. This whole narrative is as nonsense as the narrative that Mclaren has a dominant car and the Red Bull was very close. 0.030 is as close as you can get. You can't get any more closer than that. After all who says that the Red Bull wasn't a faster car today in the clear air?
They also pitted him into the world of hurt. Don't know if Oscar has cooked his tyres that really forced their hand. I know Oscar was on the radio plan A wasn't looking ideal. But seemed poor to put him into so much traffic. Both I think have a bit of the blame.
The pitting may have cost him second but didn't really change the win.

You do get the feeling they really thought they would have a massive advantage over the opposition all year long, and were just fighting themselves.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 17:28Btw same type of strategy more concerned with your teammate was done in Japan as well. This ensured Max could win that race as well.
Both drivers/sides of garage seem to think this is between two of them and their strategy is to maximize result against one another, not against Verstappen or rest of the field. We will see if this comes back to hurt them.
No way. He was unable to beat Max today. We need to accept it and move on. Cant win them all.
Yeah you are right, I just overreacted answering to someone whose posts I should have just skipped. My bad.Hoffman900 wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 17:08I don’t know if you can pin it starting to downpour while Oscar is mid corner on Oscar.Seerix wrote: ↑18 May 2025, 17:04Go rewatch AUS.
