“FP1 was quite positive, but then we made some changes for FP2 to see how far, basically, we could push the balance and I think we just overdid it a little bit,” Verstappen recalled.

“I couldn’t really attack the corners anymore how I would like and then you’re just shedding a lot of pace, and that lap time is basically not coming out of it.

“I don’t expect this to be the quickest but we want to be a lot closer than what we were in FP2.

“But I’m also quite confident that we can be a lot closer.

This is in line with what we saw. FP1 looked visibly good. It is possible that for once they got the base setup right.

Then tried with an extreme for FP2 to see how far they can push. Probably they'll come with something in between for FP3.

The "ride" is much better this year. He's able to drive over the apex curb in T1 without getting bounced off like last year. Looked good at tabac. RB21 is definitely a step up in every area.

Why do Red Bull have large brake ducts in Monaco? Here is Marko's answer
Talking to GPblog among others in Monaco, the top advisor answers this website's question about such change.
"Because here you have a lot of braking and you need a good cooling, so…," he began.
Asked about why no other team have something similar prepared, the Austrian answered: "If you want to be in front you have to do something different."

Makes sense from a budget cap standpoint and championship position to always let Tsunoda use the older parts.

Or they are just afraid that Tsunoda would do a showcase of the floor, a'la Perez.
This means they are either bringing a new floor to Barcelona.....

Or they are planning on the possibility of a strategic "accident"

mm I think here the best quail tyre is definitely the soft

plus Max is left only one new medium to be used in the race

Woww! It looks like the Imola upgrades really worked. The car looks super stable, can attack the curbs, and is definitely an improvement to the RB20.

Does it really matter though to keep the tire new for Sunday? Especially since they are forced to use three sets of tires.

maybe it depends also on which tyre they will start, I guess you don't want to start on a used tyre, and medium could be a starting tyre

but interestingly, if Max uses the usual 4 soft sets in quali, he will have a new set for the race
