Anyway, I think it could happen. Your route is interesting ESPimperium. I'd quite like to see it take that one. Do you have a rough distance estimate? So a time can be estimated.

i'd rather watch F1 cars parading through those mountain roads on Scotracer's pictures.

Renounced...lol sorry if I don't go along with your train of thoughts and have my own opinion. I don't think it's going to happen. There are many better places to have one when lets face it this is about marketing and business + a bit of sport.

No one is trying to "break" Scotland on a marketing front and Scotland has no history in F1. The UK has its GP slot and I expect Silverstone and Donnington to remain in the pound seat for that for many years. For the teams and sponsors, the America's are far more important than another European round and then Russia/India/E.Asia are further up the pecking order than the UK.

I do not see an opening for it. The only way it can happen is if an organiser basically offers Mr.E a blank cheque.

So IMO Scotland will, in the next 10 years as stated, not have a chance to host a GP.

But that doesn't mean I don't think they COULD host one if there was an oppertunity, they just won't get one IMO.

But then again I'm just an tw@t from the south of the boarder who is clearly a Scotland hating blinkered idiot.

Id say that its probably gonna be roughly 4.3-4.5km.

My ideal scottish race would be a tour of Skye. Longest cicuit of the season, say 6 miles? Weather might be an issue Or how about Mull where they are already car friendly with their annual rally? http://www.2300club.org/

You'd get better access with a central belt location. Edinburgh would get best attention due to castle etc. A circuit of Hollyrood Park (around Arthurs seat), with switch back/chincary outside the palace and parliament?

Straight could be down Dukes Walk. Pits would be in the Park.


ps... Greatest UK F1 champion (and joint 4th ever) happens to be scottish with 3 WDC. If Alonso's double header can help land the Valencia race, why not Jackie pitching for Scotland? On that basis, Fangio fans might have a thing or two to say about an Argentian race

Jackie Stewart has been involved in several failed attempt to get a GP in Scotland
a revamped Ingliston (euurgh) a fresh build in an old quarry just of the M8 if i recall correctly.

personally i doubt it would ever happen for all sorts of reasons

but there is no harm in speculating, around the meadows in Edinburgh might be possible if not down by the docks (a popular if odd locations these days)

many of the roads up north would be fantastic but would all fall foul of safety
much like the Nordschleife does.

if i had the skills i would love to make a track from various sections of 'back roads' round here none of which would be big enough for F1 but would make great rally stages (at leasts thats what i think when driving them)

Heres a second route that you could take, going under the "helindmans umberella" in good Glaswegian language. Basically to incorperate our own tunnel section. Also the pink section has a diffrential on the start, but i think id not change what ive already laid down.

Very nice scenery. I'll have to visit the green next time I'm in Glasgow. However, the problem with it is. Although it looks brilliant now, imagine crash barriers and stands. It'd take away from the beauty.

It's a good lap size. It'd be about a 1m 20s lap. Not too bad. I guessed the lap time from mentally working out an average of lap-times from here: http://news.skyscanner.net/articles/200 ... anner.html In-case you wanted to know.

Jackie Stewart is a pretty big Scottish link. As is DC. No doubt Alan McNish would get behind it as well as Dario Franchitti. Jim Clark was also Scottish, so no doubting there's history of F1 from Scotland (I'm fully aware McNish and Franchitti don't drive in F1)

I would have to say that as much as I'd love to see a race in Scotland, I doubt it will happen. It'd be rather funny if Knockhill tried to update their track to fit F1 standards and apply for a licence
