Why wouldn't Norris use the pace?

LEC in 2024 didn't need to pit, so he kept everyone bunched so no one can pit onto new tires.

In 2025 you have to make two stops, you need to build a gap. I expect Norris to run away and build a gap.

Just seen Zak Brown's antics at the end of qualifying with Lando. "Who's your daddy? That's your daddy!" Pointing to Lando's dad.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Good news that Hamilton got the penalty. It will be harder for Ferrari to use him as a road block for leclerc.

But also puts VER on PIA. could have used HAM as a buffer

Even not going full pace, it won't be too much of an issue to create a gap when needed.

And if you look at Q3, we don't need to worry about going long.

Because I don't think he has a need to go full beans until he has to, he'll be able to manage the race and balance his risks. He might well choose to go for it tomorrow, I just don't think he really has a need to for all of the race.

Whatever they do will have one eye on keeping first and another on getting 2nd, so they'll manage it well enough.

Great final session and result for Lando, Oscar slightly less composed than usual, Lando more. Has someone finally had a word that has sunk in? Definitely less ragged and he just made the harshest critics look silly. Will he maintain this in Q sessions from here on? Hoping for a good clean race tomorrow, hell, it has to be better than last year's disgrace!

Lando definitely had his head in the game in Q2 and Q3. Great to see.

Here we are, another little nugget.

Id mentioned s few times now that I think the shrinking of the cooling exits on the car are significant, that they've done something very nice internally.

“But there was one other notable thing from their car. The cooling vents on their car are so small compared to everybody else, if you compare it to the Red Bull, the Mercedes, the Ferrari.

“Everyone has these big chunky vents trying to get heat out of the engine. McLaren’s is much smaller.

“We asked him about this and he said, ‘Yeah, this is a factor as to why our car is so quick in the heat’. Everyone’s looked at the tyres and brakes and how they’re cooling things down, but he said, ‘This is an under-respected area where we’ve gained pace over last year’.

“It’s a 100% new cooling system for this year. They’ve made gains. And this could explain why, on very, very hot days, that McLaren looks so fast.

If we get cars that do early stops, or even early two stops, the leaders will have to gap them or lose out if there is green running. You can't just slow down everyone.

I think the race will be much more open than usual, there will surely be couple of gamblers but the leaders will need gaps and won't manage pace.

Hopefully it gives us exciting race but ultimately best team (McLaren) gets 1-2.

Or perhaps a less boring race lol

There will be an incident I'm sure, so we won't want to burn rubber i don't think because those going long have a reasonable chance to benefit. Someone who.is a threat to us will do.that, Leclerc is often that man. So this limits us a little i think.

Hopefully its exciting, but just in case I'm bringing a pillow lol

Our strategy today should be focused on Lando building a gap and Piastri holding up everyone behind. They should be playing the team game today.

Let's see what happens. Given the teams focus on doing nothing to hinder either drivers progress at the expense of another, it would be a surprise to.see them ask Oscar to concede the win before the race starts.

I can't see any driver guaranteeing he loses 10 points to his nearest title rival by literally helping that rival to beat him.
