I expect maybe a P3 today, our fight will be with Mercedes and Ferrari. Mclaren will run away by 15-20 seconds at least. Its the tyres and high-track temperatures. We have no chance in this conditions.

My reading is : McLaren won't bother about ensuring that they come out first from T1. They will minimize crash/flatspotting risk, and play the waiting game. They should be 1-2 before lap10 as the softs starts to wear away for others.
exactly

they can play cat and mouse with Max, their superior tyre management will pay off later in the race, should they lose the lead at the start, just like Max in 2023

Would like to see that lap posted Juzh. It's a great lap. Very tidy in T4, T5, and T10-T13 which have been problem areas (understeer) all weekend long.
Still waiting on telemetry to be uploaded to f1mw. Developer of f1mw is unavailable and he has to do it manually so we'll just have to wait. In the meantime here's the lap without telemetry

- Some understeer in T2 prevents him from putting the power down as soon as MCL.
- Car looks/feels too stiff in T4, but T5 was almost perfect.
- Nothing wrong with T7-T8-T9.
- Quite a bit of understeer in T10, comes in almost immediately after starting to turn in and he has to pump in a lot of steering lock to stay within the white lines.
- T12 is slightly better, but there's still some understeer (everyone has understeer here to be fair).
- Perfect T14

EDIT:
T10 is actually quite a big difference :

Oscar starts opening up the steering before he even gets close to the white line, whereas Max has to keep it at more lock for longer. Laptime-wise this is fine, because Max carried a lot of entry speed, which is partly the reason why he had more understeer, but this is not sustainable for tire wear.

Lindblad won the feature race in F2, convincingly. Now 3rd in the standings 8 pts behind the leader. Looking like the next big one.

"Red Bull technicians moved both balances (mechanical and aerodynamic) to the rear, to improve the thermal management in the race. A choice that penalized the qualification, however, hindering the temperature of the front axle"

Let's hope their race pace will be better.

2026 - RBR - Max and Hadjar
2026 - VCARB - Lawson and Linblad.

Pierre Waché: "To be honest, we tried something completely different with Yuki,
with a big rear wing to see how it performed in qualifying - which was a mistake on our part."
Back to the usual rearwing and a different set up.

Rear tire temperatures:

Stella:
“Yes, I was a little surprised that we had such a clear advantage, as I’d expected Red Bull to be a little closer based on some of the similar circuit characteristics we found at those tracks.

"But in hindsight I think the very high temperatures associated with the rear axle - and that’s where our car performs very well. One characteristic of Spain is that the corners are very long - unlike Imola, where they are short. -Stella

Yeah adds up. According to Rodolfo it's due to be one of the warmest Spanish GP in a while, which isn't ideal

Not much cloud cover. 49C track at the moment
It doesn't turn.

10 degrees hotter than last year. Would take a miracle for any non-McLaren car to win in conditions like these.
