F1: The Movie (2025)

Post

Hi everybody,

Time's near to the premier.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16311594/

What are you expectations and predictions?
In the scale of 1-10 much do you think it will suck :P

If the movie has only fraction of the DTS cringe vibe, I'm gonna go with 0/10

I will go into it the same way I went into Top Gun. Real pilots were probably laughing at some scenes where actors are defying laws of physics but yet to me it was super cool movie. So I expect same degree here.

The only downside that I saw on some snippets from trailer is they have so much cuts in single scene. This will drive me crazy

I liked Max's comments. "Shouldn't have to force us to be somewhere..."

Red bull and plenty of his other sponsors force him to be places he doesn't want to be all the time.

It will suck 0 on a 1-10 scale? So you mean it is going to be fantastic?

Okay… many f1 races are boring… but I fail to see how any movie about F1 could offer anywhere near the drama, excitement, action or emotion, that a good f1 race can

I can therefore only assume the movie will not mean much to a real fan, but I guess we’re not the target audience

This is correct but only for us, o niche group of people that follow F1, for normal people maybe it will be great.

I'm open minded, but comparing it to Top Gun even though it is the same guys who did it, idk, hopefully it doesn't suck as much. However thinking about it, Top Gun is Top Gun, from the get go, you can easily suspend the reality expectations and just enjoy the movie. I'm sure real pilots and people who are into the aircraft world feel cringy as favk when they watch Top Gun.

Just saying for myself at least, knowing what we know about the sport, the details, history and passion, just that it is going to be very hard to suspend the reality.

from the drivers themselves, this movie is not aimed towards die hard f1 fans. its aimed to appeal to the DTS and casual AMERICAN viewer who
are drawn to a typical american heroic tale format.

Difference is those are sponsors who pay the team money. This is just F1 trying to promote something and forcing the drivers to show up.

Top Gun is Top Gun for us and we don't spent all our time reading plane news, playing fight simulators and speak in airplane forums, so if you ask guys that have hobby or work in aerospace and planes, they laugh like us here no matter how good the F1 movie will be.

Anyone up for a bingo card?

1) Car bursts in flames.
2) Two drivers fight for the same woman off track.
3) Rookie is winning races, fighting for the championship in his first season.
4) Two drivers pick a fist fight, helmets on.
5) They are cheating. I know because I am cheating and they are faster.
6) Drives car at full blast, on track, during the race in the opposite direction.
7) Driver tells engineer to “add downforce”. Engineer looks surprised. It actually works!
8 ) Hero tells rookie which line to take in that corner instead. It makes him 1 second faster.
9) Hero tells rookie where to brake in that other corner instead, it is a dummy, makes him crash.
10) A safety car allows hero to go from last to first in a couple of laps.
11) Two cars cross the finish line exactly even.
12) Two cars pass each other 6 times in the same lap, twice in the same straight.
13) Driver shows up late for the race.
14) They spend a good 10 minutes explaining downforce, drag, oversteer, soft tires, hard tires, undercuts... RTL is proud.
15) Hero sacrifices his one and only chance for a race win to make the teammate champion.

We know 1 to 5 would never happen in real life. But it is a movie!
