I also looked to see what happened to Gasly, because it seemed strange to me. I didn't find anything. I'll check it again.
I just checked the team press:
On the final set of Softs, we were just not in the right tyre temperature window and we struggled for grip and it was a messy lap with so much sliding.

Franco also admitted he didn’t do a good enough job in Q2.
Yes, and that's a credit to him. I was surprised and, at the same time, pleased with the message.

Luca de Meo out! Alpine politics are consistently fascinating stuff!

Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo tendered his resignation to the company’s Board of Directors last Sunday.

Briatore was quick to say “nothing changes” for the Alpine Formula 1 team when asked what consequences de Meo’s departure would have and has insisted on that message both internally and in public in the following days.

Good, his boss is gone, and he was working directly for him, not for the Renault group.

Hopefully Jack will get his seat back, Franco has been far worse than Jack was, despite being a more experienced F1 driver!

This team is so pathetic.

No upgrades on winter, no upgrades during a season.
C-Class drivers like Doohan and Collapinto.
Weak tire management, weak straight line speed, weak strategy and race execution.
Bloody last with lots of points behind team number 9.

What a summary of Renault involvement after 10 years.
What a way to finish regulations period which they started at P4 in championships with Alonso and Piastri as junior.

It's so hard to support this team.

The team retained the same chassis (and same engine?) for three seasons between 2019 to 2021, due to targeting being a front runner on the new 2022 regulations.

Surely Alpine's approach to target success for the 2026 regulation changes is once again the same? :)

I.e., the strategy of avoiding new chassis or new engine in 2019-2020 worked, if giving more modest results than the intended championship wins, hence repeating it?

They need to give Jack his seat back!

Jack was A/ faster and B/ only had 2 crashes in his Grand Prix career, Franco has crashed 3 times with Williams, and now 3 with Alpine!

They’ve invested a lot of money in Jack, and now thanks to Briatore, he’s being cast aside without getting a fair go.

Franco has really not covered himself in glory, too slow and to crash prone.

Time to give Jack his seat back and let him have the rest of his rookie season without all the BS!

Their WCC results from 2018 to 2022 were either 4th or 5th consistently, using an old chassis and engine for most of that.

Their strategy basically gave them the same results.

Hmm, that is true!

The decision to dismiss the solid top 5 team principal Cyril Abiteboul does seem illogical in the context of that solid and consistent top 5 achievement.

Sooo... is Horner at Alpine looking inevitable? Flavio is probably one of the few people in the paddock who makes Horner look like a saint. Mercedes engines and David Sanchez could make Christian look like a hero. Perhaps Alonso joins them for a farewell stint?

I could see that happening. Perhaps Horner buys a stake in the team, to give him the ownership status he wasn't able to get at Red Bull Racing.

Maybe even rebrand the team as Arden F1...

Horner would do this as long as he became a co-owner of the team. He would need to line up some money. There's probably Saudi money out there that would jump at the opportunity. Especially with the success Bahrain is having with Zack and McLaren. Enstone isn't far from Milton Keynes. Horner would start head hunting employees from Red Bull. This is one of his biggest strengths.

This is why Alpine is more likely than Aston. Aston is already built.

Horner to Alpine seems a logical move as it is the only open position, not far from home, and a big challenge for 2026 with Mercedes engine.

But.

We don’t even know if Alpine will continue in F1 and I don’t think they have the money to hire him.

So it may need some investor and share selling to get Horner but I think this would be a good thing to have him
