I honestly think you are handing the ‘schooling’ phrase out far too easily. It’s disrespectful to the opposition.avantman wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 16:30
He is winning races in a car that is nowhere near as fast or strong overall as the Mclaren. That in itself can be considered schooling, I don't it that implies necessarily that mclaren drivers drive poorly, but they still allow Max winning. Did you see them winning races ahead of Max in 2024 let alone in 2023 when Max red bull was so much faster and better car overall? in any format? I do not think that has happened once, at best they could win when it was close, like Jeddah this year, and still I do remember hearing (or reading) from Mclaren fans how 'Oscar schooled Max'.
Mcalren drivers were not necessarily driving poorly during the Sprint, but still they should not have allowed Max winning if they are so good strong drivers, by taking the front row in SQ to start with.
Lando 6 tenths deficit to Oscar is as embarrassing as Oscar deficit of 4 tenths to Lando in Austria. Did not cost them anything there, costed them at Spa. Even if that is completely irrelevant from a championship point of view, they drivers aim to win every race, every quali to get and stay ahead.
So, it that sense he is schooling them. They both know very well their car is well good enough to win every since race this year. They are not though.

No matter what the circumstances in any situation. At least we know then. Very worthy of a technical F1 forum![]()
You went into this topic, saying it was due to car setup and Max did nothing special. What kind of a discussion did you expect to get ?Tvetovnato wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 17:24So basically:

Actually, yes he is. Wanna argue?
Not at all. I personally do not think so, quite the opposite. I do consider this modern grid to be the most talented, skillful, well-trained and overall best ever. This grid is head and shoulders above anything we've seen in 80s, 90s and 2000s. No question about that whatsoever. And the fact that Max is considered simultaneously the fastest and overall best driver and by margin(by many) makes his achievements ever more special and elevates him as a driver up higher a historical scale of F1. We've been lucky to see that in our lifetimes because we won't see another driver like that any time soon. Why not celebrate that?
if we take Max T1 mistake into account, the real gap is around 0.45s which is indeed better than yesterday. So, the floor works, it is worth 0.05s.
Yes, I can see him challenging them if it gonna be really wet, not just marginally damp. It's not like he has more downforce than the mclaren now though. he still has significantly less - both downforce and speed down the straights.pantherxxx wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 18:06Race will be likely during rain, with this additional downforce I expect Verstappen to be able to challenge Mclaren.
Celebrating Max's achievements shouldn't require diminishing the rest of the grid. Praising him is fine, but suggesting and constantly hinting others are unworthy is not.avantman wrote: ↑26 Jul 2025, 18:49Actually, yes he is. Wanna argue? Not at all. If you believe this is the most talented grid ever, then berating drivers for not being as good as a generational talent like Max is illogical. It's like calling elite footballers "horrible" for not being on the same level as Messi or Ronaldo.
I honestly find the backlash against McLaren drivers kind of pathetic. People say they're underperforming, yet they are 1-2 in the driver's standings and the team is massively ahead in the constructors'. Criticizing that level of success is just not a serious take and it's clearly driven from other motives. They're literally being called out for not winning hard enough?
