Call me crazy for pointing out the difference in the team (mainly Zac) when Piastri wins. Say it’s rubbish “blah blah blah”.

But actually it’s not just me seeing this. Go look on Reddit and other forums, there are literally images of Zac comparing the two reactions. 100s of people commenting on the exact same observation.

Maybe we should all chill a bit

Nothing offensive was said, its just an opinion. I haven't seen it personally but I might keep an eye out now, out of curiosity.

Another flawless execution. Great car design, two great drivers, good strategy. Unstoppable combo. Surely they are headed for the record for most WCC points in a season. How often do you get not one but two A-drivers and the cleverest car at the same time? Crosses my mind sometimes, if Piastri had ended up at Alpine... Dodged a bullet there.
Believe it or not, this season Mclaren are only just a fraction ahead on average points per race than Red Bull in 2023….

As a funny note, don’t know if it was captured in the broadcast, but Will Joseph really gives Lando some weird questions and comments sometimes. On lap 10 he was asking how the visibility is. At a point when it is almost dry tyres. Lando’s irritated response was ”what do you mean, visibility is fine..!”. Even if Lando against all odds would say it was bad, what would Joseph do with that info as a next step? Completely unnecessary and distracting for Lando.

The opinion? I mean I might keep an eye on the wall. I mean I'd not noticed the team not celebrating Oscar as much.

But Lando has worked super hard to get buy in from everyone at the team, to make it his team. He's stayed late with the engineers and he never blames the team, and he's British.

Oscar is new, more reserved and likely to celebrate a win by doing a jigsaw. Whilst I know the team love him, let's face it, most British will want the Brit to win, and the team are largely British.

So its no surprise if Lando is very well liked more than Oscar. It's no reflection on Oscar.

I hope so, it would be a great way to leave for the 4 week long summer break.

Norris made a number of mistakes(including the one that cost him the lead out of La Source) and the pitstop also wasn't very good.

Easier to get away with being a little sloppy when you dont have other cars+drivers that can actually compete with you and punish your mistakes.

Not if you want to beat your teammate to the WDC.

It was a good race to watch on live timing, the ebb and flow of lap times was excellent. Oscar appeared to continually respond to fast times by Lando as though deliberately playing out the lead not so much to conserve, yet not provide too much encouragement. He had a few fastest laps of his own and until the last lap Lando rarely was quicker by more than about 0.3. A really steely and mature drive, the green track made errors very easy to make when pushing and it stands to reason that the hard tyre would have been trickier. It just reinforces how tough it will be to dislodge Oscar over the next 11 races, he is that resilient a driver, and precise in attack.

Well yes, but that's literally the only thought, specifically because no other car is close enough to be of concern. We saw last year how subpar driving cost the driver(s) with the best car a championship, but Mclaren is more dominant this year so it doesn't matter as much. Both drivers have again underperformed a number of times this year, and only occasionally has somebody(cough Max Verstappen) been there to be able to punish it. But it's not nearly enough, so such underperformances gets overlooked/forgotten by popular perception. Much like saying that Norris had a 'flawless' race when he was actually a bit messy, but still came in an absolutely uncontested 2nd place.

You saw, because its your perspective, not one universally shared. I didn't think the car was WDC championship capable, though i do think Lando could have made a better fight of it.

Both the drivers are here for the WDC, so Lando got away with precisely nothing today. After all his good work the gap is close to being a race win in points again. If he doesnt get on top at the next race then he's not going to have the most fun summer break.

Well I cant argue much if somebody is going to willfully deny reality like this.

Makes your initial post make more sense, though.

I mean, I can 'perceive' that Ayrton Senna wasn't actually a great F1 driver. I'm guessing you wouldn't take me very seriously if I said so, though.
