A lot of tire saving here was due to the tires falling off the cliff in Canada and a few races before trying to stick with the faster cars so this time around he gradually (and very conservatively) brought the pace in. I think what he didn't expect was the car to keep the tires alive so when he upped the pace the car kept up with it and kept going faster. Same for the Hard tires. Alonso experimented again and once the tires bedded in he was unstoppable.

I think more than the race results this is what made Alonso happy and excited cause the car is now working well. If the car is fast in Sector 3 in Hungary, It will be fast everywhere because that sector decides how well the car keeps it's tires and can corner well. This is why no own apart from Norris could overtake Alonso cause they couldn't keep up.

They still need to figure stuff out cause although tire saving the first few laps was still very bad but i think there are now just one step aways from solid results at every GP.

The rest of the field, though, they finished ahead of them cause AMR25 was faster.

That's just unknown. I guess in some other threads they discuss the "stuck behind the ALO train, could have been a lot faster, impossible to overtake, dirty air,..." stuff.

AMR played their cards perfectly and the track played into their hands with the layout.

Overall I just can't understand why people here, being 1 minute behind the leading car, being happy with a result (despite a P5). That can't be the standard of AMR and I can only repeat myself: it just shows how low the expectations are.

i think he could see that russell was on a different level than him when he passed him in the first stint. he could tell that there was no use in trying to keep that pace. and chances were more likely that hed burn out his tires than to keep up, and something happens where he could get that place back. i feel the same way every time he backs the field up like that and you know he has more pace than hes showing. but i also remember times when the tires have gone out and hes a sitting duck waiting for everyone to pass him, so i dont complain too much anymore.

You are not wrong, i not at once seen ASTON to drive on the limit or at least try to be fast as front runners. They always set a realistic level and try to fight for p6-p10. Is a very bad habit. The target always should be the P1 even if there are no chance for it. Many times saved tyres and then came the safety car but he was already 6 position behind. I also felt in Hungary that in the last stint he could start to push much earlier because he was fast till the end ,so basically was much more in the tyres,or try to go with Russell at least.

This year is a write off anyways, no one should be improving their cars till the end of the season. A P5 is a very unexpected result given we were the worst car in Spa, maybe we can have a fun weekend at Zandvoort/Singapore/São Paulo (a P5 in WCC should be possible)

I'd guess our car suits Zandvoort/Singapore/São Paulo and we struggle at Monza/Austin/Mexico

Well duh, expectations are low. That’s no secret. But I don’t get why people shouldn’t be happy with P5 and 7, especially in a car that was nowhere one race ago. If we fought for wins I would care for the minute, but in those circumstances and keeping the strategy in mind, couldn’t care less about it. Points are what counts, and point-wise it was the beste weekend in a long time.

Well duh, expectations are low. That’s no secret. But I don’t get why people shouldn’t be happy with P5 and 7, especially in a car that was nowhere one race ago. With the exception of a small minority, people here were happy with the result, not the performance of the car.

Ahead of F1's summer shutdown, Cardile has finally begun work at Aston Martin's Silverstone campus to help contribute to the team's 2026 car.

An Aston Martin spokesperson said: "We are pleased that a resolution has been found and that Enrico can move forward with the team as we look to 2026 and beyond as our chief technical officer, leading our design and technical functions at the AMR Technology Campus."

Why they need a resolution? His gardening period was till end of July; he was eligible to join anyways.
Leadership roles for 2026 are in place ; except for TP since Andy is on a temporary assignment.

I'm happy with the results. Also because I think it's the first time the team has functioned as such. At Silverstone, the team was idling; at Spa, it was a disaster, also influenced by external factors; but in Hungary, it seemed like they were making the most of their options. And Lance, after that tantrum, is driving well.

The car doesn't seem like the last cold Coca-Cola in the desert. And I'm worried that it's still almost unpredictable in its behavior. But I guess I have a good seat to watch the creation of a good F1 team. I hope so.

I'm also very happy for Fernando. Because he deserves a sweet ending to his epic journey with AM. And these little joys help make the wait seem shorter.
