Both drivers said in their interviews they changed a lot about the car for qualifying and they thought it was the right direction but then the tires behaved unexpectedly.

What's funny is Leclerc hated the mediums and Hamilton hated the softs, either way they were both uncomfortable on one compound that they didn't have an issue with previously.

As I said before it sounds like they didn't maximize their FP sessions to find the right setup or they didn't anticipate the track conditions correctly, something like that.

Really tricky conditions to be fair. Also with frequent stops and delays from the red flags, the feel in the car is ruined because you have no consistency from one lap to the next. Throw in a splash of rain on top and no wonder so many were caught out.

They can have 10 FP sessions I don’t think this car can be set up for a cold track

Leclerc was begging to crash today. He made several mistakes and clipped the wall a few times. I'm not surprised that all it took was for the track to get damp for him to crash into the wall.

Wooof, that went south fast. Seemed like we were right there in FP3 - if they changed things for Q, then it might explain how it all unraveled and then Charles was overcompensating.

Well, there’s another potential opportunity checked off…

This feels like a rather misplaced/pointless comment given the context of the entire session - narrow street circuit, wind, changing conditions, rain, multiple other drivers doing similar.

They just chose a direction that didn't perform as expected and couldn't find a way to mitigate the discomfort in the handling through proper tire prep.

I say "just" since if it only happened occasionally it'd be normal. But with this team it feels like every other week.

This team has a serious problem with tires.

In Q3 we were 0.8s off a Williams driven by Sainz who has been behind Leclerc from 0.4s to 0.9s in past quali session in Baku. That should tell you everything about the disaster of today.
Hamilton is having his worst season ever by a colossal margin as well.
This team is in a terrible, terrible state.

Truth. Lol.

Heard Lewis post quali say he thought he would be going for pole today. Lol. My god dude, even the dullest among f1 fandom see that’s obviously not going to happen. This team is over Fred’s head and imo why there is such delusional thinking in Maranello. Bring back Montezemolo.

Montezemolo is one of the biggest fraud of all time. This guy completely destroyed the legendary Ferrari team and didn't take a single good decision after 2004.

Anyway am i wrong or Leclerc doesn't even have a new medium tyre for tomorrow? His race is over if that is the case.

Only ones in the top 10 that have new mediums are Norris and Piastri, Lewis in 12th has two new mediums

Sainz has a new medium too no?

Anyway, since Leclerc hated the mediums so much he might try to start on softs. Not optimal but it's either that or use a used compound he dislikes.
