who replaces Button at Brawn if he really does go? 2 new drivers at Brawn!
There is a lot hanging on what Kimi does, and silly season will continue until he finally gets a deal signed (or not). Then the domino effect will run down the grid with confirmation for Button, Rubens, Heiki, Heidfeld, etc.

yeh, Kimi seems to be holding things up. hopefully this tea party speeds him up into action.
i think a bit is hanging on Renault's commitment too.
if they leave, Kubica is available again. could he go to Brawn..?

Fil I think thats why Kubica hasnt signed - something smells with Renault - Button well loyalty isnt in his vocabulary we saw the Williams Honda stuff hes chasing money and I think honestly Brawn will not do him any favours and bow to the salary demands - to be honest they could have won the title this year with a driver of Rubens calibre and he only cost them $1 mil

I think it will be a top down effect. Once Kimi is declared (McL or nothing), then Button will have to commit one way or another. That will confirm Rubens, and Heiki, then the lower level and new teams will know if there are experienced drivers available to help them find their feet.

LOL - that would have made Vettel champion unless they had done a lot more dev work in the second half of the season which obviously would impact on their 2010 chances big way.

You laugh - I dont get it ace - all Im saying is Rubens was good enough to win the title this year should Button not be on the team - the car was good enough - get off your high horse theres nothing here for you so move on :) :)

So perhaps you can elaborate on the mysterious ways that would have given Rubens more points if another driver had taken Buttons seat in 2009? He obviously did not get enough points to pass Vettel in the championship. So there must be some hidden assumptions you are making.

In the (admittedly extreme) case of a rookie taking Button's seat and scoring no points, Rubens would undoubtedly have scored more points than he did in the first half of the season, presumably winning at least the three of those where he came runner-up to Jenson

Of course Vettel would have scored more points too in this situation, but I think to a lesser extent

Chaparral - I'm not sure why you've taken offence because of one "LOL"? He's only asking you to explain.

I guess you are saying that a few of the 1-2 finishes would have been reversed? Rubens would get those early wins, but the second (slower) Brawn driver would still have held off Vettel in those early races. However Vettel would have also scored a few more points as well (ie a win Turkey).

A lot of ifs and very little in the way of an explanation.

I also think Rubens could have taken the WDC with a bit of luck in the early races, but so could any decent driver in that car.

Ross Brawn is no fool, he knows that it was his car winning in 2009.

Both Button and Raikkonen's management have paid a visit to Mclaren. Seems like a 2 horse race for the seat. No mention of Heidfeld or Rosberg for a number of weeks.

Button's visit to McLaren is good for both parties. It will make Kimi and Brawn think twice. Kimi and Button both want better offers, but McLaren can market Button (the WDC) better than the monotone Kimi.

Button doesn't really want to go up against Lewis, he wants to continue at Brawn, where he has a "home" but equally he doesn't want them to take the p1ss out of him and his loyalty to them. And yes, Chaparral, he has shown them loyalty and grown up since the Williams incident. He still hasn't asked for as much as the Honda deal he had (and could have held them to) before. I still think there are some games going on while the Mercedes deal is finalised which will free up the coffers.

But before that McLaren want to tie up the Kimi deal, without spending so much on a guy that will have to be 2nd to Lewis...

It's all just a bit of fun and games...
