Mclaren MCL40

The amount of mini-ducts is insane.

I thought I counted them all, and there were still more.

Clear shot of the oversized holes in the bottom of the nose for the active aero, and attachment to the wing.

As expected, McLaren will not have visible technical updates this weekend, but several changes have been made “under the skin” of the MCL40.
Weight has been reduced, but the most significant updates are expected in Miami.

It is remarkable how extrem but very smooth the mclarens can drive over the curbs in the last chicane. No one else of the top teams do that. The car looks on the softer side, at least on the front.

What is in the nose that needs to be actively cooled with a fan? Surely this hole is supposed to be only for driver cooling or are they using it to cool some other component too?
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Other than the actuator for the wing, which surely doesn't really need cooling siting in the garage I can't think of anything. Other than maybe a little bit of debris from working in the footwell and they wanted to blow it all out with a fan?

Looking at the front of the tub, there doesn't look to be much space for airflow from the nose in to the tub anyway. I wonder if they have an electronic box in the nose controlling the front wing actuator and that needs cooling.

Isn't the driver's water bottle often located in that area? Apparently that can get quite hot, just a thought.

Since this year (?) it must be in the monocoque area. I think this cooling is for the front adjustment system. Maybe to hold a (gas) pressure system (tank) at the right pressure window.

Hoping for more tomorrow from the new package… For now, new mirror supports (rounded instead of straight)
