"Aluminium? Pot Metal? Iron? Problems?
http://www.muggywelding.com"
The name is not precisely a winner of The "Good website name" Award. I have NOT tried their product. When I asked around the first thing I saw in every face was a smile, but nobody gave me an advice worth mentioning. Just the cold looks bold inventors get used to receive... sigh. Why, oh, why can't we have world peace, end of hunger and a safe environment, like all women want?
Half seriously, I consider their solution more sintering than soldering (that is, mixing a heated powder as opposed to a flow of metal ions).
Super Alloy #1. I wonder what's the trick. They do not post pictures of steel and aluminium welded together, but they claim this will do the trick. Anyway, they sell it, anupam buys it, he tells us what happened, and everybody happy (xxxChrisxxx specially, I guess, for the number of smilies in his post, if nothing else!
)
They also offer the misteriously named Super Alloy #5. It sounds like something that would make Green Lantern to falter and fall, do not confuse it with Super Alloy #1, there are three full super alloys in betweeen. You (maybe) can weld aluminium with it.
I can attest that in Bogotá, at the second hand car market they can weld aluminium very well: I once broke a carter of a friend's BMW and he never noticed. NOTE: I guess my friends don't come into this site, they seem to spend most of their time in porn sites, so I'm not afraid of consequences. Anyway, please, don't tell him! The details of that crash are embarrasing, btw, but I was your age back then.
Super Alloy #5 at work. That's not a flame, that's a Super-Flame!
So, you dispair of welding casted iron?

Me too... until the famous Super Alloy #1 came to the rescue. The ad says: "Don't be afraid of cast iron!! Save those expensive parts: cast iron exhaust manifolds, cast iron engine blocks...". Sure the people at Toro Rosso can save some money on their cast iron OEM engine blocks.
Weld cast iron! Weld carbon fiber! Weld styrofoam! Nah, I'm joking, you cannot weld styrofoam, but give me a Super Alloy #1 to stand and I'll solder the world! I personally propose to give this picture the coveted 2009 F1Technical's "Most Ordinary and Useless Welded Piece with the most Perfect Weld" Award.
Let me guess: you're welding an aluminium rim to an steel center... sigh. Please, do NOT offer me a ride, anupam. Oh, and welcome to the forum! What really, really beats me is what are you soldering your carbon fiber chassis to, but, please, feel free to share with us.
