These cars are smaller than the GE monsters but they're not small. They're still too big to make Monaco anything more than a qualifying session with a parade on Sunday. If F1 is serious about preserving Monaco (and the qualifying shows they should be) they need to either make some really expensive changes to the layout to create at least 2 passing opportunities or reimagine the weekend as a WDC points only heritage event with spec F2 based engines and chassis made to look like 70s F1 cars.

On paper these cars should be great here. They are lighter and smaller. I think the grief from the drivers is just that they don't have a lot of downforce. That's by design though. They would never be able to follow closely otherwise.

Shades of the wunderkinds.. Clarke, Senna, Schumacher, Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Verstappen..

Except he didn't burst out right away, it's like a sudden surge in his second year and he's dking it without any fuss too!

Kim Kardashian is normally toxic to her boyfriends, but seems she hooked up Hamilton with some plastic surgeon to get younger! Lol

I'm not sure how Russell comes back from this.
I don't think he can. I'm not convinced the Mercedes was the best car around here. I still think that was Ferrari. Like Max did with the Red Bull, Kimi made all the difference with the Mercedes. It's his team now and George is just there to pick up crumbs when he makes the inevitable mistakes a 2nd year driver would.
George was a nervous wreck.. But there are16 races after this and he's strong at other tracks. All it takes is a few DNFs from Kimi. George just has to keep his nose in from the more open tracks after this.

Completely off topic, especially on a technical forum but, when I heard about this relationship today I couldnΒ΄t help thinking to myself : " Damn, he really is a crazy guy". He has huge options to choose from and he chooses her WTF :?: :?: :!: :!:

ItΒ΄s very hard to talk about LH, even as a driver, because of his crazy mind. I already knew he was insane after seeing that tiger* video and now this.....

* I refer to a video of him sneaking on a tiger (yeah, it was sedated for sure but still I would never do that...)

Tires left, and some random strategy ideas from Pirelli/f1.com

so far it looks more like you can do the full race on softs, so I'd doubt anyone will touch the hards for a mid-race stop.

Making changes to a city layout is not really realistic, even more so when you take into account some of the highest real estate prices in the world.

I for one would not miss this race if it disappeared from the calendar, I'd much rather see one of the old skool tracks back on the roster.

Your 2nd suggestion sounds cool, but it's all about the money and real world championship points is what brings that in

I would wait until we see the race. I think the new deployment map will have a larger effect than some people have recognized. Image
We are looking at a 75 kW (100 HP) power delta at 250 kph, and a 150 kW (200 HP) power delta at 300 kph. It's going to generate massive closing speeds at T1 and T10, and help you stay really close everywhere else. It's unlike anything we saw with DRS, and it's going to reduce the overtake delta significantly. Instead of it being 4-5 seconds it might be closer to 2-2,5 seconds, IMHO.

Add to that the 20 cm extra space when two cars are side by side. I think this track will be one of the few which is actually massively helped by these rules.

Wheelbase/length is still too great for overtaking. They have to shorten it by 60 - 80cm minimum imo to have a chance of overtaking

We all love qualifying at Monaco but the race is a procession cars are way too big for an exciting race with overtakes. I think they should change Monaco race so drivers use Superkarts for the weekend instead. Will be way more exciting and be an annual one off fun race weekend instead
