Hamilton's brake issue - what was it?

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

Hamilton's brake issue - what was it?

Post

Did not ever hear exact problem except it was a failure of some kind.

Speedtv said that he was using 'several' different brake brands (AP, Brembo, etc) but no exact mention of, which brands, exact mix and whether it was different disk material, pad material, mixed and matched to 'other' vendors parts, etc.

Anyone hear anymore details about this?

Thanks!

yeah, he's only gained a 2nd, a 1st & a 3rd in his WDC attempts, and more wins than any other driver in the last 3yrs.
its going to happen ever now and then when you trail-brake as often as he does.

Did you mean in Abu Dhabi?
All that was said was that the rear pad had a manufacturing issue with one section of the pad, causing it to wear abnormally quickly. A hot-spot if you like. Once this overheated and began to burn out too quickly it was only a matter of time before it failed, similar to Webber in Singapore.
Brake Calipers are Akebono, Brake pads in the past have been Carbone Industries for the team, but this is usually driver specific.

Read any news story about the race:

Most say "faulty brake pad". I did read a more specific comment that it was because part of the pad wasn't dense enough, almost like it had a soft spot.
