I don't like the fact that you can have a violation and only find out about it afterwards. This is a problem, they should either automate the system or put a steward on each problematic corner. They had to do something because so many runoff areas have become asphalt and drivers can just go wide to go faster (or cut a corner).
They can and should automate it, and I'm completely mystified why they haven't. Perfect topic timing too with Austria coming up, though the gravel strips have helped some it will still be a big issue. The championship leader and biggest phenom uses every bit of the track like nobody else as part of his secret to success, so this isn't going away anytime soon.
Hawkeye in tennis has been around for decades now and should be simple to implement. Much easier than automated offsides in football as a tire has much more in common with a tennis ball than a human body. I understand that a racetrack is much bigger than a tennis court, but F1 has a lot more money than pro tennis so make it happen guys. It's ridiculous that rival teams are essentially employing their own spotters to catch each other out.
