Max has dialed his car right on the kinfe edge! Did you guys see the onboard before be crashed?

Thats sort of tuning is how he is able to gap his teammates. It's just a matter of how big your balls are. Risk versus reward.

It was long time standard that by a single yellow no personal best is enough. But in a situation like this, (a) a single yello is questionable and (b) such a small lift is anyway not enough. And on a side note, with his hybrid engines the lap time loose from RUS in this situation is close to 0.
It was a 100meter lift according to George. Can't really argue with that.
With these formula its lift and coast and recharge the battery for later in the lap.
It wasn’t a significant speed reduction really,
In Barcelona when Charles crash was automatic red, what happened here ? Speaking about safety.

I think the argument probably is it should have been a double yellow.

But by the rules George did nothing wrong.

Think when Anthony showed the striped yellows in the in lap it looked clear and George was okay by the rules

just laughable situation - single yellow is always - big lift, double is always - be ready to stop, and russel gets PP passing through single yellow, FIA is a total joke at this point

So it seems they put a single yellow in sector 15 for 22 seconds, then upgraded it to a double, and Russell passed the sector before it changed to double. So fair enough. Still weird that you can do a pole lap and only lift enough to lose a couple of tenths under a single, but if those are the rules, then well played, even after I criticized him earlier.

I always watch the Verstappen onboard live. Have been doing that since it came available on F1TV. I can tell you one thing, you are talking absolute nonsense here!

For what it is with, Russell’s minisectors in the lap were:
Yellow-green-green-purple-green in S1,
Green-Green-Green-Purple-Green-Yellow-Green in S2,
Purple-Purple-(reaches Verstappen)-yellow-yellow-yellow-purple-yellow-yellow.
It feels like quite a slowdown.

One thing that fans always forget is how important a good car is. While driving slow/unstable cars, even multiple WDCs crash like Max today and Lewis a few times last year, trying to overdrive. So when judging other drivers, who haven't ever got the kind of excellent , fast and planted cars that Max and Lewis have driven to titles, those other drivers are also overdriving like Max and Lewis now. The outcomes are always under par.

Exactly this.

Russell is just using the room that is allowed to them. If the FIA is serious about safety they should require proper lifts, also in F1.

Yeah, the criticism here should be directed at the FIA, which allows a token lift and a pole lap during yellows. And also that they did not put out doubles earlier.

I think you are being very harsh.
When is the last time you remember Max to have 'overdriven' a Q3 lap and crashed the car ?
I can remember only Jeddah 2021.
How many crashes by others we have seen in Q3 over these 5 years ? This crash doesn't diminish his credibility as a driver, IMHO.
Mate, I criticised him harshly today only. No doubt he´s insanely quick and almost never crashes and that´s why we have super high standards with that we can expect from him

Big thanks, that´s the kind of sensible post we expect from a mod :D

It feels extremely unfair. F.e. to Antonelli.

Also, Russell was immediately talking politics, influencing the stewards. I thought this was not allowed anymore?

Why did they wait 22 seconds, and why does it matter. In situations like this, the double yellow should be retroactively applied to the moment the car was in the barriers. You should not be encouraged to try and squeeze through.

As long as the rules and guidelines are the way they are Kimi messed up. He thought it was a double and it was a single, so should have done the same as Russell. As he admitted afterwards.

How quickly will Kimi clear the Ferraris tomorrow with how dialed in the W17 is?
