The irony when people wanting a last lap.
Well after we were all told that it can't end behind the safety car, we were looking forward to a lap or two of proper fighting for the win. But apparently it depends who's winning what...
nothing in the rules says it can't end behind the safety car.

Today just makes AD21 look even worse and I didn't think that would ever be possible, they will make up an excuse of course, like they did in AD21 #-o

Oh, we know that. But the teams and the FIA have always pushed to finish on track and, heck, they even fiddled with it to do just that at a certain race in 2021. Just more of "the FIA making it up as it they see fit" nonsense.

Stupid thing is that today there was time to have a racing lap - the lapped cars had cleared and there was a lap available. But, nah, let's have a farce instead.

Drivers, teams and fans want one thing - consistency of application of the rules.

Quite ironic Brundle now demands the rules to change immediately. How ironic… 😄Why was he silent when the FIA changed them for 2022 primarily to satisfy Hamilton and Mercedes?
However It was immediately clear it was a mistake. The race direction should be given MORE power and freedom to make those calls if the situation requires, rather than LESS.
Reality is every single rule that was added or changed in the sporting regulations over the past 6 years was a mistake. Starting with track limits nonsense, ending with these silly safety cars ending procedure over complications.

The FIA are notorious for messing things up like this. It's hardly a one-off and as said, just be consistent with the rules and no one will complain.

I think both Lewis's and Kimi's penalties were nonsense but they were in accordance with the rules. Crowding drivers off track is against the rules but we see it all the time from certain drivers without penalty.

Lewis has to be irate that the race finished under the safety car and not AD21... that makes the FIA look even more incompetent.

It's the "Safety Car Ending" message for 8 seconds that messed up everything, giving false hope, it should never have been issued.

Lewis just admitted that he didn't see the yellow flag and is expecting a penalty

I wonder if Max will get a penalty for not putting his steering wheel back on the car - when he got out, he threw it out of the car and then climbed out and walked away.

Oh, bound to. Although, having said that, as the podium has happened maybe they'll do one of those grid place drop next race penalties that they use sometimes.
