And what is the truth about the desire to change? Vermeulen: "There is a lot of writing. But the truth is that Max wants to finish things with Red Bull. He has a contract until 2028 and would like to fulfill it." On the much-cited exit clause that Verstappen could pull during the summer break, as he currently seventh in the world championship has no chance of finishing in the top 2, Vermeulen says: "The fact that this clause exists does not mean that we pull it. We could have pulled it in recent years and didn't."

There's only 1 team he should consider joining if he leaves Red bull and it's Mercedes who look like they won't be changing their lineup for at least another year. Red bull despite its recent struggles is very well placed infrastructure wise to be a championship winning team, state of the art PU facilities with some excellent personnel that's already delivering, new state of the art wind tunnel next season, all placed in a single campus. They just need to improve their chassis side, maybe things will get better with the new WT, or maybe the new people need a bit more time to gel/get comfortable in their new roles, but next season will be very important once the new WT comes into play because there will be no more excuses to hide behind, if they can't show marked improvement from that point, the team will need a bigger overhaul, and that will take way more time.

Red Bull need a driver who has passion and commitment to go through this difficult phase of rebuilding. Max is a 4 time champion and doesn't have the mindset to slog through iterative improvements and the heartache that comes with failed experiments. It's demotivating for both parties to go through current phase where team expects Max to go with the team's slow burn and Max wants a winning car ASAP.

Lando would be a good fit for Red Bull. He is not highly successful yet and may have the hunger to be part of this rebuilding process. So far he hasn't been a primma donna at McLaren, which is a much needed quality at the moment for Red Bull. Mclaren is in similar situation to Red Bull, but the relationship doesn't sound sour. Neither party is throwing stuff at each other there. Instead of Oscar, Lando should be Red Bull's target.

No team would benefit from Max at the moment as none really have a competing car except Mercedes. They seems to be happy with their lineup. Max wouldn't be happy to sit in that McLaren either. Potential option for him is Ferrari. If not for a great car, atleast the Cheque book is the largest of all the teams and I am sure they would desire to have him replace Lewis. He will have atleast one reason to be happy.

Its going to be painful journey ahead as it stands right now.

In Verstappen's car (and Hadjar's), an old version of the rear wing was installed (without the Macarena effect).

Isack Hadjar: "We were definitely a bit less competitive in Silverstone when it comes to the engine."

It doesn't look good either way, but imagine it the other way around. (Max getting the new engines, while his teammate refused to get one).
