Albert saying McLaren's 'macarena' wing will be tested for the first time in FP1, and it appears to be on Oscar's car only. meaning Leo will be the first driver to run it on track during the session!

This makes sense since it will mostly be aero testing and CSTs so Leo should be able to do this easily before pushing toward the end of the session. Lando will collect the primary setup data

The difficulty with this kind of design is probably the closing phase. As the long wishbone becomes more vertical, the force that pulls the wing forwards naturally decreases. Furthermore, if there is any play in the hinges, you lose some precision in the position of the wing. It's a very fiddly thing to develop.

Strange thing is that none of these wings seem to have the displaced hinge that Red Bull have, or at least no photo evidence of it yet. It's possible that they have another solution that either doesn't need that added geometry, or they're using a different hinge mechanism like a double-pivot. I suppose we'll find out this weekend, looking forward to it.

We still don't have a picture with the correct angle, but I think Mclaren's solution might not require it (or rather, they had a different objective which is why the linkage is different). I think Mclaren re-used the hinges from the original wing, and that when it flips, the wing will sit further rearwards than the Red Bull one.

Yea that’s the one. Waterside sidepods hit the floor don’t they.

After looking again I don’t think they are any different than before other than the large cooling vents

Looking at this new linkage, it appears to connect to the very front edge of the flap and nowhere else. Pretty sure that geometry would imply the Ferrari rotation direction, while still using a central actuator. If so, it's a nice way to sidestep the RBR pitfalls without having to completely reinvent the actuator assembly. I believe this is being done in conjunction with the new rotational axis as pictured below. This positioning is similar to Ferrari's, correct?
