After watching the footage again I can comment for certain that the stewards clearly don't know what to do. Not only Russell divebombs and overshoots the corner so he can stay near Hamilton but then he cuts across Hamilton like Hamilton doesn't exist there and touches him, forcing him into a steering correction which caused the accident. I would dare say that Russell should have goten a place grid penalty on the next race for causing a collision. Regarding Leclerc it should have been a clear slum dunk on him also for causing a collision as he did not leave space to a car alongside him and causing damage.

On other news I can't wait to see the new Mclarena wing just to see how it works.
The stewards are there to enforce the rules. They are not there, as you implied in an earlier post, to use their common sense. We live in a world where bottles of bleach have labels on them telling buyers not to drink it. There is a reason for that. Are some of the rules applied last weekend a bit daft and need looking at ?? .. emphatically yes. But the stewards have to apply the rules, regardless of their own personal opinions, and this just doesn't seem to register with the hard of thinking when a driver they like is involved.

Not sure what version of the Hamilton/Russell incident you were watching but it was caused by Hamilton getting understeer and drifting into George. That's what caused the touch that spun George out. George held his line. You can literally see Hamilton get understeer, drift left and try to correct it, and then clip George's rear wheel.

As for Piastri. He wasn't far enough alongside to earn the corner. You cant just park your front wheel in front of your opponents rear wheel and wait for him to move aside. You have to be right up at the front axle of the car you are overtaking. Now is that a daft rule ?? .. again, emphatically yes. But it's the rule. Oscar could have avoided that contact at any point by backing out. The right hander was coming up and Charles, knowing that Oscar wasn't fully alongside was always coming left for that corner. And this might surprise some people but the car behind also has a responsibility to avoid a collision. LeClerc knew the rules. Oscar thought he was in the right. One is the reality of the situation and the other is just an opinion.

Competitive people will always push the limits. I flew in the military and we would lie, cheat and steal to win. But we always stayed within the rules. I had students bleat at me about how unfair a manoeuvre was when I was instructing, or how I wasn't playing fair. Way I saw it was that if I knew the rules and flew to the limits of them, and the other guy didn't, then he or she was not doing their job and they should work on that.

Sometimes Darth-Piekus is too passionate and is saying things :))) but this time, imo he is right. Maybe also this posts from our forum colleague Vanja H is helping.

Is true that Hamilton getting understeer and drifting into George caused Russell spin, but this understeer came only after George hit Hamilton. And that hit came only after, as Darth is saying, George tried a ultra late brake on the corner desperate not to lose multiple places after the deployment issue.

Anyway, we can not change stewards decision (both on Ham vs Rus or Pia vs Lec) so we can focus on Hungaroring. :D

I am passionate indeed though I can say that I mellowed out over time. Anyway. Onwards to Hungaroring and I hope this time we can see how our own version of the Mclarena wing works.

From: https://f1ingenerale.com/notizie-formul ... ufficiale/

The folding rear wing represents a significant advantage for the teams, which is why, after seeing it on the Ferrari in pre-season testing, a race to develop it by the competitors began.

This, however, is not a simple solution to implement. A "Macarena" wing represents one of the most complex engineering challenges from an aerodynamic and structural standpoint . Besides designing airfoils capable of maintaining high efficiency during rotation, the main obstacle is structural. Building an actuator capable of withstanding the enormous aerodynamic loads while ensuring rapid and precise operation is no easy feat. The system must also synchronize perfectly with the front flaps, which have a shorter travel.

McLaren seems to have adopted a solution more inspired by that of Red Bull : in Woking they chose to keep the central actuator, with the flaps that will presumably rotate anti-clockwise , just like on the Milton Keynes single-seater.

This is in fact a prototype specification , which will debut in FP1 and will be set aside for the rest of the weekend . Based on the data collected during free practice, the team will be able to refine it and then officially introduce it after the summer break.

And we see in Hungary that also Ferrari copy McLaren ideas.

I believe the target for Mclaren's Macarena wing debut is Monza.

Yes, this is the plan.

Not much to see here, but Lando and Andrea are focusing on the floor and rear upgrades.

And, on a funny note, the budget cap hit hard. Lando had to sell his shoes to allow McLaren the upgrades

It is linked to the models and simulation tools used by teams and manufacturers, allowing them to gradually gain a better understanding of these systems and reduce the number of unpleasant surprises. In that respect, McLaren revealed that, ahead of Spa, it had received several Mercedes HPP simulation tools it had been requesting for quite some time.

Mercedes hiding the PU simulation tools for half of the season. It sounds like Mclaren was therefore having to rely only on the track behavior to understand the PU while Mercedes had unlimited "simulations" of its PU behaviour at the factory. The simulations are important because dyno testing is limited, but simulated PU operation is not.

I'm going to predict that the McLarena wing rotates clockwise like Ferrari. If you look at the new actuator arm it seems to be attached to the very front edge of the second element and nowhere else, so the geometry should work. They also aren't using the displaced hinges that Red Bull need, instead mounting the hinges in a very similar spot to Ferrari's axis of rotation. If you look closely at the swan neck stay underneath the green arrow below, you can see the split line that won't allow the flap to rotate downwards. The right hand picture from Spa is allegedly of the McLarena wing that they mounted and then pulled.
