Fernando Alonso insists he will not leave Aston Martin for another team next year, saying the main question hanging over his future is whether he enjoys driving the latest generation of Formula 1 cars enough to remain in the series.

Alonso, 44, has previously said he will decide on his 2027 plans over the summer break, which starts after this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

2027 is next year.

Clearly you just say that to denigrate Yuki. He was faster than Hadjar and Liam. He developed that RB that gave Hadjar and Liam those podium chances. If Yuki had remained in the VCARB, the results would have been ALOT different. Fine, let Yuki be #1 driver and Stroll can be #2. Our Honda engineers would be a lot more motivated with Yuki as one of their drivers. Yup, that's right.

I dunno, it still smacks of backmarker levels of disorganization somewhere in the supply or production chain.

This is the only performance update package they have brought all year. The target was originally Spa, so it's already late, and short on spares.

I want to believe, but this team desperately needs a proper Team Principal to get this kind of thing under control.

A team principle is mostly just a figure head. A politician to represent a team's interests. Their main contribution is hiring and firing the right people based on listening to others.
Besides, Newey was the one who organized Red Bull into the technological firm that produces winning cars.

What he meant is that he WILL be in the team, but not that clear if he will be driving. He has stated several times he wants to win a championship with AMR, behind the wheel or behind the wall.

Ugh. Honda only needed one more week to be ready with the upgrade.

Maybe they are already ready. But they want a test run at the Pirelli test and the filming day, before deploying it at a race weekend. Seeing how bad the pre-season was, it's rather logical.

I bet Alonso wouldn't complain if the driver in the other AMR garage was Sainz! That's what it should be, a guy that can take over when Alonzo retires. Sainz might not be the best driver in F1 but he not a diva, problem free and is in the top 99% of drivers on the grid.

The top 99% includes everyone, but the worst driver. It would anyway if the maths worked, because 1% is just 22% of one driver.

So you want to say Sainz is the absolute best?

I'm not gonna say he's the best but he's good enough. I'd take Piastri or Bearman too. Yuki has spent years at Baby Bull and RBR and never really impressed. I mean if you didn't have Stroll you could run Yuki but two of those ? Forget it, you need a leader. Someone that really drive the wheels off the car.
