The TV graphic says Alonso was on hards for the time 2.5s off, but that was on softs, I am 99% sure. Formula-timer also says he is on 8 lap old softs now.

Correct. Huge, huge improvement in terms of pace but of course starting from so far behind means the gap to P1 is still massive. This should have been the first spec of the car back in February, but alas we didn't know about all the issues behind the scenes.

Hopefully a lot of performance yet to extract from the new package.

Was soft tyres. Finally we have UPGRADES instead Downgrades like was the last 2 years. Maybe from Now we can start our year.

It was on softs... its just loosing time to the RacingBulls in S1, else S2,S3 times are very competitive.

Power deficit is still very noticeable, 303 in the speed trap with the second slowest, the Cadillac at 318. But the aero package looks like a big upgrade so far.

Honda do run on lower modes in FP1,2 compared to others.. so hopefully Q2 on cards.

Alonso was 11 and 12 faster on second and third sectors ( highdownforce) and 19 in the first when engine makes the difference. So, Looks like a lot of positive about the changes. Now we need Honda.

It will probably take time to fully understand the package.. trying different setups, finding correlation etc etc. the most important now is the engine. But we look to be around Haas currently, ahead of the Williams.

That suspension broke when he went down to grass while spinning, else it looked quite straight!!. Hopefully not that catastrophic structurally.
