Why are race threads so empty nowadays?

Traditional discussion forums seem to be dying a death. People are on Reddit, Discord, Twitter etc. It’s a shame as I prefer this format.

This is also my thinking. Cost caps were supposed to have been to prevent " arms race " style spending, but at the same time they bring in what is one step away from "Spec" engines and transmissions.

If the cost cap prevents any innovation why have the rules so tight. Let someone try a Wankel engine or CVT transmission if they want. If it does not work, they will not use it for long, if it is better then, is that not the point of racing?

There would no doubt be things that need to be limited or banned, but cross these bridges when they arrive.

agree on all points, it basically is not a sport any more, it is politics and show, politics was a significant part before, but it sort of respected the sport, but not any more, it dictates what the _entertainment_ will be, and I personally can't stand that BS

That is what F1 used to be indeed all about innovation and sometimes it doesnt work and sometimes it works too well like the active williams

I see the same all over. It's not specific to F1. The sport is more popular than ever. Forums are not.

The medium is a terrible tyre. Similar degradation as the soft while being significantly slower (around 0.8s in qualy).

If Hamilton can jump Verstappen and Russell on lap 1, he is still in with a strong chance of a win.

This token lift and still trying to improve your time through yellows needs to stop before someone gets injured or worse. Good to see Kimi getting penalized when he lifted for the telemetry but still had a higher corner speed. How about changing the rules so that if you pass a yellow, the laps gets deleted? I believe Indycar has this rule.
