This team should just prioritize the world champion when you have such a huge pace differential between drivers. Insane.

Lando was going 0.8s faster after being let go by Piastri on tires he spend the entire stint in dirty air. Papaya rules were acceptable when they were both in a title fight. Now that's not the case this year so it doesn't make sense compromising both cars so that they have "equal" chances.

It shouldn't be a problem to overtake Kimi, I think.

I do think they need to find a way to stop these situations where faster car is behind. Maybe add a rule that they swap and if someone can run away then he stays ahead. It would still be controversial but at least it wouldn't hurt chances for the team.

Well as suspected lando is off into the sunset.
Hopefully somehow he can drag himself back into WDC contention but we need kimi to drop a few places.

If Mercedes becomes third fastest team then everything is possible. But even just getting regular podiums and some wins would be great turnaround.

Piastri let's got and seal the 1-2.

Shame for Oscar, the 1-2 looked nailed on. Lando has been unreal today, apart from that drift on lap 1. Hopefully this isnt track specific.

McLaren needs to let go of this stupid mentality honestly. If the slower driver doesn't like it, they are free to leave. Plenty to fill the spot when you're a top team. 1 second a lap difference and they were content with potentially losing the race just so Oscar doesn't get sad. Look at RedBull and what they do with Max and Isack. When you don't have the pace, you don't have the pace. Don't hold the team back.

EDIT: And to give an almost perfect example. Monaco GP 2017. Kimi got the track position on Vettel, but Vettel was clearly faster. What did Ferrari do? They didn't swap, but they let Vettel show his pace and earn the position. He made the overcut work. The fact that McLaren were unwilling to even let Lando try and earn the position just proves how backwards this way of operating is.
