I fully support the fact that Monaco is the horriblest track on the calender. No width to accommodate two cars racing each other, and terribly 'stop-start' by nature.
However, Hungary is a very 'flowy' track, enough width for side-by-side racing action, and very technical in nature, in terms of driving. This track is a purists' delight.

All of those tracks are better than Qatar. It shouldn't even be on the calendar because its not up to F1 standards. Its a motogp track with no overtaking opportunities, unsafe kerbing and an abrasive surface that forces cars into capped stint lengths. Monaco at least has the best qualifying of the season and Hungary, Singapore and Zandvoort have some passing opportunities and at least create strategy tension every year. Money talks in modern F1 and Qatar being on the calendar is the clearest signal of what matters.

The soft was good on the ferraris in the beginning and good for VES at end. I expected actually that most start on soft and/or drive a good part of the race with it.

I like to drive around both, Hungary and Monaco, that´s not my issue with them. It´s just that the racing is very restricted on both (sure, Monaco is way worse but Hungaroring is also very boring). In China, we had similarly paced cars battling each other like the Ferraris(even if it was fake yoyo racing), here, Norris was a lot quicker than Oscar and could not attempt a move. Unless you´re miles faster, like 2-3s faster like Norris was against Antonelli by the end, it´s very hard to even attempt an overtake. And mind you, Norris had the energy advantadge thing and still had to divebomb into T1. Not good racing imo

Well even in the days before we had these duracell cars it was known as a mickey mouse circuit.
After reading your comment i checked the schedule and noticed there is no grand prix in germany even where they have 2 amazing tracks even the one in portugal is better. There should be a GP of europe again which is every year on a different european track.

Was RedBull lucky with that strategy or did they work the statistics there?

The last call on soft was totally unexpected and decision to not pit during VSC was brilliant too. I guess cooling condition may have helped to keep the tires alive

Alonso had already done a 33 lap stint on softs, so they had at least some indication

Alonso did 33 laps at a much slower pace and for RBR completing the race is not an issue, only question is if Max will be fast enough to keep 3rd place (before Oscar's requirement).
