Mate, they are having a crack at it, they know they have a virtually impossible mountain to climb but they are putting their nose to the grindstone and having a serious go anyway despite that fact they will be back-markers - what's not to like about that?
Here here. I certainly have a lot more respect for teams like Virgin and USF1 than Campos, who are getting their chassis from Dallara. At least they are making a ground up effort all on their own, which should pay big dividends in the long run. I'm sure the first year they will be able to compete with all the other rookies and hopefully take 9th place in the championship.
The site is a bit amateurish (Virgin Racing is MUCH cooler!) but I think that it will become more developed over time with the more youtube content that they produce. You doubters wanted something well here is a chassis and components being made. Think they are real yet?
It looks like they will have a rolling car fairly soon and would (unlike Lotus for example) be able to show their car at the end of January; where and when we will see.
All that being said, as much as I dislike xpensive's comments in general, I don't think he has been very anti-American. He is anti-Anderson/Windsor and is letting that get the better of his opinions on the TEAM and THEIR work. Maybe Windsor is a moron technically but he isn't working to design and manufacture the car. In any case I'm sure he is learning a lot.
As far as Anderson goes, just because he hasn't been the technical director at Ferrari or Mclaren doesn't mean the man doesn't know his cars. Look at the rest of his resume for that. Everyone starts somewhere and at least he has the guts to put his reputation on the line in what some think is a foolish effort.
