The 018 was known for the first car with high nose but that concept wasn't banned. It was pretty much picked up the 019 which added an anhedral front wing. All cars in the following years went to high noses. 018 also had huge front wing end plates and a second front wing element which looked like it was quick adjustable.

The 018 also had pull rod suspension front and rear but I guess that was legal as well.

But what was banned?
I can only think of 026 and X-wings...

Tyrrell had connected the wishbones together to make a plane, this was called and moving aerodynamic surface by the FIA, and was not allowed.

I'm coming back to the baby Benz sports car team. One of their drivers took a straight line into F1 compared to the other two. Who designed the F1 car.

no, but it would be easier to name the driver and the team first to see if a mistake was made.

If by straight line you mean that the team had Mercedez backing, than it would be Karl Wendlinger in Sauber C12 designed by Harvey Postlethwaite.

I think woohoo was right. In 1991 Schumacher drove first race at 11th round of the season (Belgian GP), while Wendlinger joined on 15th (Japanese GP). Frentzen started driving in 1994.

So the car would be Jordan 191, driven by Schumacher, and designer Gary Anderson as woohoo stated.

Schumacher got a chance to appear on one race as Mercedes' paid 400.000 to Jordan to treat him for winning in Gr. C. I can't see how Frentzen's coming to F1 could be described as shorter way from Gr.C to F1.

Well done timbo!

From Mercedes sports car Sauber C11 to the Mercedes concept Sauber C12 F1 in 1991 is the direct route. An the designer was correct as well. Eternal shame that Merc switched teams to McLaren as it suited them. I'm sure with Sauber they would have made a successful team as well. That was quite apparent when BMW took over Sauber. It were mainly the resources that were missing from Sauber not the competence.

Also correct that Frentzen detoured by Japan. Schumacher did not take the direct access with Sauber and Mercedes but had to be launched as pay driver with Jordan. Yes he drove a bit earlier but that wasn't what I meant by strait line. Schumacher's entry was by no means regular but coincidental and based on some trickery and wheeler dealing.

So, you're saying that he was cheating? I mean, that's what can be read on web too. It says that Mercedes promised a race seat in F1 to MSC and Frentzen, depending who beat the other in F3000 or F3 (can't recall). Frentzen said that MSC pushed him of the track in order to win, a how he got Jordan seat.

No, Merc paying for having Michael drive elsewhere was unusual to say the least. The coincidental aspect was the jailing of the main Jordan driver, the trickery was provided by Weber. He over sold Michael's knowledge of Spa and avoided a binding contract with Jordan. Michael's driving the wheels off the Jordan at Silverstone and Spa did the rest to make this rather irregular entry work and catapult him into the Benetton rather quickly.

By 1994 when Merc entered the scene as an engine supplier Michael had outgrown a newcomer team and was driving a front running car. 1995 for the 96 season when McLaren teamed up with Merc they badly missed the boat by letting Michael slip through their fingers. Brilliant play by J. Todt who outfoxed Dennis big time then.

Should be an easy question as this is a technical forum
Name me three banned cars, their designers and concepts they implemented.
One car was banned after winning the race, another one was banned after setting blistering pace on tests, another one was the cause of fight between a legendary designer and governing body.

Two out of three.
This one is good answer, but actually nobody knows times for this car, and it was tested only twice, first on a wet day, second time by a sports car driver

So, have a better variant?
