You're extremely close. Almost nailed it. Just find the reason why yellow got there.

Hint: It has to do what was happening during WWII.

Indeed. Renault got huge reserves of yellow paint for German tanks captured by allies in Northern Africa. Since Renault was destroyed in allies bombardment and looted by Mercedes, after liberation they got the paint as an aid to start production. First 4CV's were yellow when company was nationalized, and those were their first racing cars after WWII. That's how it all started.

for the african division of the german army. Not as a tribute but due to scarcity after the war, they used the left over paint

You are talking about this years car color or the one back in the 80's?
Yellow as such, this year's too, just as trough previous years and decades.

Just as Ferrari's is red, Renault's is yellow. How did it all started? There was a chain of events leading to it. It wasn't anyone's decision or plan.
Hmm, what do you mean, as we all know Ferrari is red because the Italian racing colour is red (dating back to races held at the very beginning of the 20th century), but as far as I can tell Renault is not yellow for the same reason, since the French racing colour is blue. Yellow is the Belgian racing colour, but I havn't been able to find a connection between Renault and Belgium.

Renault works racing color is red, French national racing color is blue.

Alpine-Renault and Gordini-Renault were blue. Renault-Alpine, and Renault-Gordini were yellow.

RDJEHV's turn.

I thought that the Eagles of Gurney were blue because blue was the American racing color.

Is Renault Yellow because of the Elf sponsorship?

edit: appears both France and USA were blue, but USA had two white stripes.

Elf has nothing to do with Renault's color, ELF was founded in 1967, while Renault's yellow dates since the 1945 (check former posts).

As for the US racing colors, white with blue stripes and blue with white stripes has alternatively been used through the years. The blue color is also a lot darker than the French version of "racing blue".

I'll just post a hint to get this question out of the way! :)
[insert team name here] employed this woman to provide lift instead of downforce. Just like this year with the red bull bulges on the nose, [insert team name here] was updated with some rather noticable bulges, only not on the nose. Unlike teams this year covering the bodywork with a lot of cloth, [insert team name here] never was to fussy about this.

I won't reveal the team name just yet, it would make this question too easy! (even though it is already very easy)
