S on Williams nose/wing

Post

Every Williams I have ever seen has an S on the front wing/nose.

I always thought it was the Senna S but I've just seen this and it might be from whatever company this is.

So is it a sponsor or dedication to Senna?

It's Senna, apparently Williams have carried it on every car since his fatal crash. Thanks Tiff Nedell/Fifth Gear. He drove one against a BMW M5 around Rockingham for T.V. and mentions it in the piece.

Thats correct Safeaschuck and as you say Tiff did mention it - great guy (very good peddler of many different cars) and he fronted a DVD production of mine Sudden Impact which delves into the high speed crash in many formulae.

Yeah definitely a tribute to Ayrton. In a harsh world driven predominately by money & performance, its quite a human & heartfelt gesture by the team.

One of the first pics Rubens posted when he joined Williams was exactly that too: Link

The Williams logo is shaped into an 's' too. But I don't know if that's related. When I heard this, I always thought it was the logo that was the 's' not a seperate bit #-o

It is a very heartfelt gesture. Doesn't happen very often. Earthquake in Italy is another example of humanity being replaced by sponsors and I love to see it.

Racer's at heart. With all the legal stuff that happened with Williams over his death, they still carry his torch brightly, leading the team nose first on every GP. Like a guardian angel really.

That has to inspire every driver that sits in the car to do their best.

I'll throw in a big amen on that. =D>
Someone more cynical than me would argue it's feel good advertising.
However I can't, and won't view this symbol from that posture!

Just to add...
The background of the image that was originally posted contained advertising of Superfund, a former sponsor of the Minardi F1 Team.

What do you mean by that?

Williams' "S" is for Senna...and only Senna. It's not even in a Sponsor "window" being on the inside of front wing pillar's.

If Superfund have a similar logo that's not something Williams or Senna's estate can do much about.

But Williams are not advertising Superfund, so you appear to have gotten the wrong end of the stick.

Not only are they suspiciously similar, but Superfund is an anagram of "U SPUD FERN", an ancient illuminati insult.

I thought that the Senna S was the trademark of the Senna Institute. The website shows a different emblem. Look
Williams and proud of it.

The double S logo was always the Senna Brand logo.

The Ayrton Senna Institute was created, by his family, after his passing in 1994.
It is extremely fitting due to Senna's love for helping less fortunate children in Brazil, and his emphasis on their education.

I wasn't questioning the fantastic work carried out by the institute.
Williams and proud of it.
