Have driver's faces become distorted?

Post

Have the huge amount of lateral G forces that drivers sustain during a typical clockwise circuit led to the distortion of faces?

case in point

Umm...
Don't know what you mean. Schuey looks incredibly fit for a 40-year old.

No.

See? This is what I'd call distorted. Schumi's isn't. Albeit it's a bit too orange at times (ROC 2010) :)

Not older, that's obvious I'm talking about his jaw, it looks like it angles right more, other drivers have the same "look". I wonder if it's because during high g turns the drivers have to prop their jaws slightly to the right to counter the force and if over a long time it leads to...crooked faces

Silly.

Look at the picture of him younger, he has the same angle to his neck. People are not symmetrical, and everyone has scoliosis to a small degree.

I rotated my hip rather severely, and my right shoulder is a touch lower than my left now.

Schumi had a horrible neck injury recently, and might have alignment issues. Just part of getting older.

Also consider how much has worked on his neck over the years. They do neck exercises like most people do curls.

The images you have there are at different angles. So the shape of the face is going to appear different. What would be more useful is a direct comparison. Using the extra-bandwidth will help in fleshing out your argument. I, personally, see no difference except in the appearance of his age.

A few good examples would be DC and Rubens. They were/are in the game for a long time.

I see little difference.

Looks like the wind straightened his hair out and dyed it brown (Schumacher)

Ironically we are designing a website that requires a face blown image similar to the image Pandamasque posted in this post. We are willing to pay for a good high resolution image if anyone has something usable? thank you!

No, Schumacher's nose didn't grow because of G force under deceleration, but due to Pinocchio syndrome.

DC is a bad example. Not even all the forces available to god would be able to displace that jaw a millimeter.

Lets be technical about it: it's called "masseter hypertrophy" (= enlargement of the masseter muscles of the face). It has nothing to do with the g forces applied while driving an F1 car. It is associated with bruxism (= tooth grinding), which in turn is associated with stress. Very typically encountered in people with a prominent chin, or Class III jaw relationship, and "square" layout of the lower third of the face, exactly like both Mr Schumacher and Mr Coulthard. No need for treatment as long as it does not cause any symptoms! Other famous "sufferers": Sylvester Stallone & Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!
