Karun Chandhok

Post

Just found out the Karun Chandhok to be the second driver for HRT.

Really great news for Indians and I am sure he'll do much better that Narain. GP2 also is doing well as a feeder series. It's a fun combination with Indian, Brazilian and Spanish mix.

I doubt that 8)

Most important thing is that he has finally trimmed his unibrow and now has two(2) eyebrows =D>

Well, now that I think about it, Narain wasn't so good :) But he got some points from you-know-what race

Narain was actually better than most realized... definatly better than Montiero(WHO HAD A LOT MORE RACING EXPERIENCE)

Mallya is definatly a fool for not picking up either one of them, even in a test driver role... especislly with an India GP in the works.

What? Definately better than Monteiro? Being a fan boy of neither I recall Monteiro beating him in races.
Its all very well bringing up quali performances when Monteiro was always heavily fuelled, but quali is for the race, and racing was what Monteiro did better than Narain.
More could have been done.

Don't get me wrong I am personally a Narain fan, he has been a great ambassador of India. It is definitely more difficult to be the first Indian driver than the second. Also the fact is that he has also played a big role in promoting motorsport in India. Basically Karun has followed Narain's foot steps.

I just hope that Karun does better than Narain because it'll be great for India, nothing personal against Narian.

I am definatly a fan of neither and I have to say that all the evidence leads to Narian having alot more potential than Tiego did.

He out qualed him nearly everytime out... and contrary to what you claim NK usually stopped 1 to 2 laps after TM for the first pit stop. He had many more race fast laps than TM, but thats usually not that big a deal. What did aid TM was that he had impeciable reliability that year, Narain had 4 mechanical DNF's in the first half of the season(early in the races too) which cost him a great deal of seat time in the Jordan/Midland which was strapped for cash and was not doing any in season testing.

Others may see it diferently, but after closely watching the 2005 season I saw Narain having much more potential than Tiego, and was also better at that time as well.

I disagree, Narain pitted before Monteiro near enough all the time.
Monteiro kept his nose clean and finished races while Narain spun off a couple of times too.

In the end I will point you to Indianapolis during the tyre-gate scandal. Karthikayan buckled and Monteiro outperformed him. It was a Microcosm of his time as a team mate to Monteiro.

Both nothing special, but there is no way Narain was any better.
More could have been done.

There are more, but that is nenough to prove my point that Narain usually outqualed Tiego even with more fuel on board

Indy is in no way representative of the that season, it was an anomaly on so many different levels, plus I remember the speedtv guys saying Narain was very sick that weekend, something about dirty american food.

Islamatron those stats are abysmal. Very convaluted and make no sense at all.
Besides did you actually see what i said? Monteiro is a better RACER.
He finished more and he finished ahead of his Team mate more often than not.

At one stage Takuma Sato was leading Button in quali's, it doesnt mean Jack.
Especially in those days of fuel corrected quali times.

If I was a team owner, I would have Monteiro, finished.
More could have been done.

"Tiego", "Montiero"... I'm sorry, I just... I mean a typo now and then is fine but... And, well, "Monteiro" has even already been written right several times by now. May be I'm just too picky. But back on topic:

Wow, that's a solid argument. I don't know, I might have to agree with you that... No wait, just remebered the commentators here said that Monteiro had a 40ºC fever. Don't know if it was from eating "dirty american food" though, but I guess that evens them out at least no?

Shame, it takes away some of the sci fi feel he was bringing to F1...
